Aoi Marushin Tempura in Asakusa....

Tempura, Seasonal Japanese and Sushi Tempura is a traditional Japanese cooking method. Aoi-marushin's Tempura is a low cholesterol healthy food becouse they use fresh fish and vegetables, cooked in high temperature vegetable oil. They also have seasonal Japanese dishes every month to reflect the harmony and seasonal flavors, aromas and colors of Japanese cuisine. Enjoy the good old days of Edo.

Tempura is undeniably one of the most popular foods foreigners want to try when they come to Japan. One shop that is in Asakusa near the temple and Nakamise Dori is Aoi Marushin. It is very easy to find. When you are facing the Kaminarimon large red lantern, walk to your left a few blocks and it is on your hand side.

We had a great meal at the Aoi Marushin. I really loved the tempura squid, fish and prawns and also the miso soup is really thick and delicious. And oh.... I still dream of the chawan mushi (steam egg with sea food and mushroom)!!!!!
Sit Eshah, my good friend, colleague , room mate and I.... in the lobby of Aoi Marushin...

Starters...Appetizers... not really too appetizing for me... I don't fancy radish pickles or any kind of pickles  too much but the brown thingie...taste rather like fishball...

Lunch!!!! Our first lunch in Tokyo... the tempura was really tasty!!! Love the garlic/ginger thing that when added into the say sauce giving it an extra ummmppphhh...

Outside the Aoi Marushin... Our meal was quite costly... I think it was nearly 3000 yen.... which made it RM120 per meal , per person...... The chawan mushi itself was priced at 800 yen... RM32 per cup!!!! but it was delicious... I liked it...
