Party of the Century

When I first learned about the Party of the Century, I was hoping desperately to get invited, and when yours truly here was one of the fortunate few who scored an invite to the Party of the Century, I was ecstatic.

When the night of the Party of the Century arrived, I was a bundle of nerves. The invitation card insisted that the dress code was strictly the Glamorous 1920s and I so did not want to be under dressed.

party of the century

Thankfully, I manage to pull off the look with some help from my friend Wendy who came to my rescue with spare clothing and some additional accessories.

It was my first time there to the Empire City, a City of Lifestyle & Entertainment that aims to be the ultimate spot for meeting, dining, shopping and relaxing, all within a self-contained city that balances business with leisure. Despite the Empire City being in the midst of construction, and everyone could see it will definitely be huge!!!

The venue for the party was over a huge Olympic-specification ice rink, meaning it is definitely the biggest ice skating rink in Malaysia....the rink was all red carpeted for the party and very glitzy and glam.

Guests of the party beginning to throng the party area
Being a curious person, I was determined to explore as much as I can and I was soon on the first floor, only opened to VVIP guests. I was lucky my invitation was VVIP and I was allowed to wander around quite freely except backstage... sadly.. huhuhu

I soon found myself at the other VVIP entrance where the real red carpet was. I was definitely excited and the uniformed doorman looked very smart and reminded me of those palace guards at the Buckingham Palace...

On exiting the door I came to the grand entrance for the red carpet arrivals.

The doorway and the doormen...
I could almost imagine myself in Hollywood or at the Cannes Festival with all the flashy cars that lined the red carpet and also outside. It was really very high class.

The media, staff  and curious guests waiting for the other VVIPs and Celebrities to arrive

For your info, Empire City will have a number of unique offerings, such as the cinematic world’s first multiprojection theatre, an Olympic-specification ice rink and stylized boulevards, like Asian Food Street, that will bring the international luxury feel to life for residents and visitors alike.

Standing there, watching Porsches, Lamborghinis and Ferraris arriving in a line to park along with discreet white MPVs bearings celebrities with their police escorts was a surreal feeling.

I have had the opportunity to have ridden in a Porsche before, and so I know the feeling, but arriving at a glamorous party in fancy dress and getting off one with hundreds of eyes or photographers looking on should probably be an experience...

Anyway, it wasn't long before the first celebrity star for the Party of the Century was here. It was the Australian Tenor, Mark Vincent. He was accompanied by bodyguards and naturally the media /paparazzi thronged, pushed and shove to get their pictures of him.

Some of the other guests, local celebrities and socialites at the Red Carpet...

I've got a feeling that you might recognize this hip-hop artiste if you  are a fan of the Black Eyed Peas. He is none other then Taboo, one of the 4 members of  The Black Eyed Peas . He was the next to walk down the Red Carpet with all camera lenses including mine trained on him.

And as you can see, he was pretty accommodating striking some poses for the media to snap.

Then there was a huge treat for TVB fans like me too....when the gorgeous Sharon Chan, Eliza Sam and the very dashing and handsome Him Law came strolling arm in arm down the Red Carpet to the media and fans frenzy .... three of among the best looking and popular TVB stars from Hong Kong...

Just for those who do not know who they are, Sharon Chan  is a Hong Kong actress and model,  Eliza Sam is an ex beauty queen and a Canadian actress based in Hong Kong working with TVB and Him Law is an actor with Hong Kong TVB .

Then the star of the night arrived. This really sent everyone pushing and shoving to get a glimpse of her or even a photo of her... thus yours truly's very shaky photo since I was shoved while taking this picture...

a shaky picture of Paris Hilton on the Red Carpet

I think almost everyone knows her... she is none other then Paris Hilton, the heiress to the Hilton Hotel group. She is also an American socialite, television personality, model, actress and singer and apparently deejaying is also in her repertoire..

Back inside, the crowd was building.. It was fascinating to see everyone wearing their best to follow the  glamorous 1920s/ Great Gatsby theme..

Then it was showtime!!

The opening act up was by Korean band 2 AM... which kicked the party off.

OK, so I do not really know what song they sang as I am only a so so fan of K Pop. I do enjoy the songs but I am not overly crazy about them. But they did give a great performance and I did enjoy their song..

Another performance that really amazed me was the Zambian aerial violinist, Caitlin De Ville. She was very outstanding and played her violin without any pause while being suspended high above the crowd and even when being suspended upside down, along with the other aerial acrobats.

That performance was definitely jaw dropping !!!

Then we got to enjoy a few minutes of speed painting by these two speed painters who manage to finish a portrait each in just less then 10 minutes!!!

It was amazingly fast. I wish I could paint these fast....

I think this guy painted with glue....

... because he completed his artwork by throwing gold glitter on his masterpiece...

...... and the finished product... amazing right??? I must admit being constantly delighted and surprised by the entertainment line up here at the Party of the Century.

Then we were treated to something a little more traditional. A Chinese dance performance.

It was yet another mesmerizing show...

...and it ended with two LED dragons zipping through the air from one end to the other end across the hall. I almost missed the first one and only had enough time to catch a pic of the second dragon....

Anyway, the Empire City consists of 2.5 million square feet of net lettable retail area, 8 corporate towers and office suites, 3 international 5+ star and 5 star hotels and a cinema themed hotel are built around the 5 pillars that are at the core of Empire City; Design, Art, Music, Performance and Culture.

A toast to the future success of the Empire City...
And the launch was officiated with a toast by the directors and management of Empire City and the release of sparkly confetti on all the party goers below on the red carpeted ice skating rink/ party area

The next performance  was by Mark Vincent who can really melt hearts with his vocals. I was pretty mesmerized as I listened to him serenade the crowd who seemed pretty spell binded as well.

To be honest, I have not really heard about him before learning about the Party of the Century or if I did, it probably slipped my mind, but hearing and watching him perform here made me a fan.

And I really would go for his show if he decided to come to Malaysia again to perform. I really fell in love with his soulful voice.

Then the moment most people in the venue was waiting for... the very beautiful Paris Hilton taking the stage.. and she was really gorgeous.

She started entertaining everyone with her selection of music starting with her two songs, "Stars are Blind" and "Nothing in this World" followed by some later favorites top of the chart songs.

She was seen having some fun dancing along while entertaining the guests but apparently our Malaysian weather was a little too humid for her as she was caught fanning herself with her hands before her set finished... he he...

Taboo from Black Eyed Peas took over shortly after Paris finished her set

.... and it was obvious he knew how to work the crowd, getting everyone to dance and sing along as well...

party of the century

Yours truly got tired from all the standing and decided to find somewhere to sit and found a comfortable seat inside the VVIP box on a lovely sofa and could not resist taking a picture here....

After a bottle of Evian and a few minutes off my feet, I decided to join the crowd downstairs just as DJ Ken took over the next set. Everyone was dancing then..

At the corner, I spotted one of the emcees for the night, the dashing Will Quah, and he was very friendly and obliged our request for a picture with him...

And spotted here, other blogger friends who look so gorgeous with their beautiful themed clothing.
I definitely had a whale of a time though was disappointed I did not manage to get a picture with some of the stars like Him Law, Paris Hilton and Taboo. But it was definitely a swanky and lavish party of the century I would never forget.

Thank you to Empire City for hosting this amazing party and having me there and to Dr Sidney Kan for inviting me......and am proud to be a member of #team50MY

Beautiful ladies all in a row...

What do you think of my blog???
