My stay at the Straits Hotel and Suites in Malacca

So yours truly spent a very relaxing weekend over in Melaka in the lap of luxury offered by the new Straits Hotel & Suites located along Jalan Melaka Raya 2. The hotel is just sharing the same building as the Novotel Melaka and they share the same parking as well.

Upon stepping into the lobby area, my eyes are drawn to the very contemporary and minimalist reception as well as the seating area.

The Straits Hotel & Suites is quite conveniently located in the heart of Historical City of Melaka and UNESCO World Heritage site. It is just 2 mins’ walk adjacent to shopping belt of Melaka, namely the Mahkota Parade and Dataran Pahlawan where guests can enjoy easy access to shopping, entertainment, and dining destinations.

This newly opened hotel in Melaka offers 352 spacious of deluxe guestrooms and luxurious suites with a cosy kitchenette included. I just loved the contemporary design ambience around that suits today’s modern lifestyle.

Each deluxe room and suites are fitted with large windows offering ample natural lighting with balcony and offers spectacular view of the Straits of Malacca and city views.

What made The Straits Hotel & Suites most desirable to me is because it was within walking distance to notable tourism spots, shopping malls and culinary experiences. Nearby historical landmarks includes A’Famosa, The Stadthuys, St Paul’s Hill and Jonker’s Street.  Yeaapppp.... you heard me right.. all this is within walking distance.

Dataran Pahlawan – 350m walking distance
Makota Parade – 600m walking distance
A’Famosa – 850m walking distance
St. Paul Church – 1km walking distance
The Stadthuys – 1.3km walking distance
Jonker’s Street – 1.6 walking distance

As I was travelling with my husband and youngest daughter this time round, I was given the Straits Suite.

The corridor to on the 10th floor is covered with lush pretty blue floral carpetting...

Just as I stepped into my suite, I could see the kitchenette area..

Then there are the tea coffee making facilities as well as complimentary mineral water...

My Straits Suite also comes with a dining table for four...

And well, check out my lounge area with a day chair as well as a sofa set with ample cushions...

There is also the flat screen LCD TV with an extensive international selection of Astro channels...

The bedroom... My bedroom had a lovely generous king sized bed which is just as comfortable... with 4 pillows and two smaller throw pillows. There is also an arm chair in the bedroom

And... a lovely writing table/ work station where I did all my work, check my facebook, emails and so on...

The 3- door wardrobe is very spacious and it comes with ample space for everyone's clothing . There are hangers in the wardrobe, as well as shelves, and complimentary use of bedroom slippers and robes. There is also an in room safe for you to keep your valuables safe when you are out of your room...

Let's check out the bathroom...My suite came with a medium sized bathroom with a bath tub, much to my daughter's delight as bath tub equals mini pool in the room....

Then there is the seating toilet, sink, face towels ....

.... and toothbrushes, cotton/cotton buds and shower cap as well as a small luxury bar of Avalon & Gray soap.

The shower stall comes with a choice of  standing rain shower, which I absolutely love.... and also the hand held one for those who prefer using that.... and of course, a full set of the miniature Avalon & Gray essential toiletries.

My sitting room/ lounge can open up to the balcony which overlooked part of Melaka town. And as my youngest daughter was with me, I requested for an extra bed which was placed in my lounge area..

and, here is a picture of me chilling out on my very comfortable bed.....and naturally, there is complimentary WiFi here which  is pretty good.. I manage to do my blogs, check my facebook and all the necessaries...

For your information, there are 80 Straits Suites in the hotel with a dimension of 65 square metres.

These are a few pictures of the Melaka town in late evening taken of my view from my balcony on the 10th floor.... I waited to share this pictures as when I was there in Melaka, it was pretty smoggy/hazy and so I found the pictures in the evening much more prettier....

There are so many shoplots there as well which guests at the Straits Hotel & Suites can check out and try..

For your information, there is a 7-11 nearby and I finally manage to try those Chicken Ball Rice at the famous Ee Ji Ban Chicken Rice Ball Shop just a few steps away from the hotel...I have always head of it but never got around to trying it as my husband would prefer the Asam Pedas or Ikan Bakar whenever we came to Melaka in the past...

A mom and daughter picture.. before my daughter dash off to check out the pretty infinity swimming pool on the 23rd floor...

The awesome infinity pool situated on the 23rd floor is something else... you can really soak in it while admiring the panoramic view of the city of Melaka as well as of the Straits of Malacca...

The water's depth is about 4 feet and the water is clean....there is also ample room to swim a few laps..

For those who prefer to lounge around, there are deck chairs here and one of the good thing is you do not have to worry about the hot sun or rain... you can just relax with a good book and take a dip when you feel like it....

The view mesmerized me... and I could not get enough of seeing it...Anyway, this hotel is still new but I think there will be a BBQ pit area as well as a pool side cafe planned for here on the 23rd floor, and perhaps also a Sky Bar and lounge....so that would be pretty awesome too right....

Imagine enjoying some yummy barbecue with this amazing view... at night... check out the pics from my balcony again for a rough idea...

Anyway I manage to get a peek into the other rooms here at the Straits Hotel & Suites.... This was on the 22nd floor...

This is the Premier Suite ... it has a kitchenette as well as the seating area like my Straits Suite...

The only thing different about the Premier Suite is that it is slightly more spacious then the Straits Suite...

Instead of a King Sized bed, you get a Queen Bed here... and much more space as well for those fussy travelers who make personal space important in their itinerary...or for honeymooning couples...

There is also a bath tub and a shower stall and all the same amenities...

There are 64 Premier Suites here in the Straits Hotel & Suites with a dimension of 80 square metres...

Then I got a peek into the Deluxe room as well....

This one is a Deluxe Twin , there are about 160 Deluxe Twin rooms here and 48 Deluxe King rooms available with a room dimension of  33 square metres each...

you get a writing /working station here as well

And a kitchenette as well with the normal coffee and tea making facilities...

But the Deluxe rooms only comes with a shower stall...and no bath tub... This room would be suited for business travelers or people who just need a hotel room to have a good rest and basic amenities....or a couple....

Let me bring you to the gymnasium... there is a little gym tucked away in the corner of the 3rd floor...

So gym bunnies and body builders will be pretty happy here....

If you are planning for a function, a meeting or wedding, you might also like to consider the function rooms here... The Straits Hotel & Suites will exceed your expectation in comfort and also highly sophisticated business and ballroom facilities...

With a maximum capacity up to 250 guests, the rooms are attractive with their contemporary theme, and also equipped with WiFi, projectors, office facilities and audio systems... I heard the lighting system here is also pretty interesting as the lighting can be customized to suit your event or function...

Currently, there is a Family Room Package going for just RM450 nett.. where you can enjoy 1 night stay at the Straits Suite with a connecting room Deluxe Twin. You can even get an additional bed and a buffet breakfast for 5 people...

So hurry and make use of this opportunity...it of course comes with complimentary parking and WiFi.... The package is valid until 31st October...!!!

My breakfast the next morning is at the  Amalaka restaurant which is currently only serving breakfast... (lunch and dinner , is in the planning)

I found the restaurant pretty cosy with flamenco dancers portraits gracing the brick walls...

You can have a choice of a couple of cold drinks, coffee or tea as well as milk...

The breakfast spread is pretty good...

There are also outdoor 'action' stalls where you can find the chefs preparing customized omelette to suit your taste...

as well as roti canai.....

Here is a pic of one of my dishes.... Nasi Lemak with fried egg and rendang chicken..... delish!!!

And that , my dear friends, readers, is all for now...

The check out time for here is at 12 as usual and upon checking in, you have to pay RM50 deposit as well as an additional RM2 (which is mandatory for all hotels in Melaka and Penang...) for heritage tax...

Thanks to the Straits Hotel & Suites for hosting me and my family here in this gorgeous hotel...
