Hospitality 360 Expands Hotel Portfolio

Hospitality 360 Sdn Bhd (“H360”), a Malaysian hotel management and consulting company, announced the signing of a strategic partnership with Wyndham Hotels and Resorts (“Wyndham”) to expand their portfolio of hotels, resorts, and serviced apartments across Malaysia.

As H360 and Wyndham memorialize their common objective to continue their commercial dealings and deepen their business relations, we are witnessing the beginning of a new chapter in their illustrious partnership. Under the terms of their partnership agreement, H360 will deliver at least 15 hotels signed as franchises under various Wyndham-owned brands over the course of the next six years.

To mark this illustrious partnership, there were several Memorandum of Understandings (MoUs) and agreements for H360 to manage, under various Wyndham brands, 4 hotels and luxury serviced apartments in Sabah.

The MoUs were signed between Wyndham and the developers of the hotel properties, namely, Jesselton Newcity Development Sdn. Bhd; and Sumbangan Aru KK Sdn. Bhd; for the properties that will in turn be managed as Wyndham Grand, Dolce by Wyndham, and Ramada by Wyndham brands. Construction of these hotels, totalling more than 2000 rooms will commence in phases starting in 2023 and is expected to complete by 2027.

In addition to the pipeline of current signings, H360 through the newly announced strategic partnership with Wyndham also has other hotel properties in the pipeline. They are namely our future flagship property, the Wyndham Grand TRX KL with more than 190 rooms, developed by Core Precious Development Sdn Bhd in which the construction is underway and due to complete by Q4 2023; and the newly built Ramada by Wyndham The Straits Johor Bahru with more than 190 rooms which will be operational by Q1 2023.

Furthermore, the under construction, 85 rooms luxury serviced apartment project Isola KLCC, developed by OCR Berhad, the152 rooms Shahzan Kuantan in Pahang, the 204 rooms Trinidad Suites Puteri Harbour in Johor and three more properties namely the 88 rooms Lisbon Melaka, the 158 rooms Trigo Kuala Lumpur, and the 90 rooms Shahzan Frasers Hill are all expected to sign to Wyndham’s Trademark Collection brand.

Looking ahead and through the various agreements, we target to achieve a portfolio of approximately 5000 rooms all over Malaysia by 2027.

Group Chief Executive Officer of Hospitality 360 Sdn Bhd, Dato’ Indera Naresh Mohan said, “This is an exciting time for us as we expand our hotel management portfolio to more locations around the country. The properties we will manage are targeted at different segments of the market, from leisure travellers and families to business travellers. We are looking forward to working with Wyndham to ensure all our guests get a full and holistic experience in our managed properties.”

Vice President of Development, South East Asia & Pacific for Wyndham, Matt Holmes said, “By signing this strategic agreement with Hospitality 360 Sdn. This move will position Wyndham strongly to tap on the exponential rise in travel demand which has accelerated since early 2022 as borders reopen across key markets in Asia Pacific. GUARDIAN MALAYSIA KEEPS KIDS CLEAN AND HEALTHY TOGETHER

Guardian Malaysia announced today a new nationwide community service programme, “Together, Keeping Kids Clean and Healthy” aimed at helping children from low income families stay clean and, consequently, healthy.

As part of its #guardiancares initiative, the programme which will start on 15 December 2022, will provide children from low income families with hygiene products, in particular, body wash.

Anna Ng, Brand Marketing Director, Southeast Asia, Guardian, said:

“At Guardian, we believe that everyone deserves to feel clean and healthy.  It is a basic human right.  It should not be a luxury or privilege, especially for children.  Children from low income families are especially vulnerable because these families do not have the resources, especially post Covid-19, to be able to buy hygiene products when their priority is to buy food to feed their children.   The rising cost of living further exacerbates these difficulties when you factor in other major expenditures such as transportation, education, rent, and mortgages.

“Yet keeping children clean and healthy remains vital when, for example, we saw cases of hand, foot and mouth disease (HFMD) this year rise 20-fold compared to last year with children the most affected.  And with our recent experiences with Covid-19, keeping good hygiene especially good hand hygiene remains a very important tool in preventing the spread of infectious diseases such as Covid-19.”

“Apart from that, we also truly believe that when a child is clean and smells nice, it boosts his self-esteem and improves his mental well-being too.” added Ng.

To mark the launch of this campaign in Malaysia today, 200 school children from Primary One classes of Sekolah Kebangsaan Bandar Sri Damansara 1, received 2 bottles of one litre body wash and 100ml bottles of body wash and a Guardiancares Bear each,  In addition 800 Primary Two to Six children received one bottle of 1Liter body wash.  The school children will also get a #guardiancares eco-bag with hygiene posters detailing the correct way to wash their hands and body during bath time.

The Guardiancares Bear will be on sale at Ringgit Malaysia Thirty only, at all Guardian stores throughout Malaysia and through Guardian’s online store and the Guardian mobile app.  All proceeds from the sale of Guardiancares Bears will go to the #guardiancares fund to support the bath care needs of underprivileged children in Malaysia.

At the launch, Guardian team members also pitched in to help finish a mural inspired by Haris Rashid at the school depicting the importance of keeping healthy and clean.

Ng added:  “Through this programme, we are targeting to provide 20 million baths to underprivileged children not only in Malaysia but in other South East Asian countries, namely, Singapore, Indonesia, Cambodia and Vietnam.

“This initiative is a region-wide Guardian community service programme covering five  countries with each country working with a local Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) so that our contributions will reach the intended children. In Malaysia, Guardian will work with Yayasan Perintis Malaysia who will help distribute these bath care products and identify the child recipients on behalf of Guardian.  We will be focussing on children aged of 12 years and below from B40 families who live in low-cost flats and low-cost houses near the schools.

“Additionally, for every one litre of Guardian bath care product sold in Malaysia, 15 sen will be donated to buying bath care products for these underprivileged children. So we hope our customers will support our community service effort by buying Guardian bath care products,” Ng said.

The #guardiancares initiative is a sustainability initiative focused on caring for the health of its customers and the community that Guardian operates in.

“We would like to inspire and empower customers to make healthy and sustainable choices when it comes to choosing the health and beauty brands they trust at Guardian.  At the end of the day, we want our customers to ‘care’ about what they buy.  We believe that beauty begins from the inside.  By choosing to care, together we can make a difference,” Ng concluded.

Malaysian-based micro-batch ice cream brand, Kelava, is moving from  supermarket shelves to its own scoop shop with the opening of its first outlet in Berjaya Times Square.

The new store  marks the first time the brand will be serving its customers directly. In the new retail space, Kelava will offer its ice  cream in scoops of single or double with the option to customize them with five different toppings available.

In  conjunction with the launch, Kelava has also introduced three new flavours, available only at this outlet.

“With any business, it is always important to establish roots. Therefore, we are thrilled to be expanding Kelava to the  retail market, and we look forward to meeting more of our customers in person,” said Dato’ Sydney Quays, Group CEO  of Berjaya Food Berhad. “We are excited to bring to you fresh, innovative approaches to ice cream and raise the bar  for our brand even further. The Kelava store is a critical step for us to meet the needs of those who prefer non-dairy  alternatives but want the same enjoyment and happiness that they get with a cone of ice cream in their hands.”

Founded in 2017 in a home kitchen, Kelava produces and distributes premium handcrafted micro batch ice cream,  which are rich, creamy, and completely plant-based. The name Kelava is derived from the combination of words  ‘Kelapa,’ which means coconut and ‘love.’

Kelapa is the main ingredient in the ice cream base, bringing smooth  indulgence to the mindful ice cream lovers. Kelava ice cream is produced locally in small batches using the freshest and most premium ingredients available, allowing each scoop to be filled with intention and care.

“When I started Kelava, it was from my own kitchen. I experimented several different times just to get the right texture  and flavours. Now, although our brand has expanded, the method is still the same,” said Mr Azlan Alladin, Founder  and CEO of Kelava. “I have always dreamt of this moment, and I am honoured to be able to bring these wonderful  creations directly to our customers and instantly hear their responses. My hope is that this store will allow us to grow  an even bigger community and to share the enjoyment of ice cream with everyone.”

Customers of Kelava will be able to choose from a range of dairy-free ice cream flavours, including Vanilla, Chocolate,  Salted Gula Melaka, Coffee Latte, Wild Berries, Cookies & Cream and Onde Onde.

I am in love with both the Chocolate and Salted Gula Melaka flavours as well the Mango Vegan!!!!

Fans of Kelava will also be surprised  to see three new flavours that were also introduced at the opening. These flavours include Mango Vegan, Pistachio  and Pengat Durian.

To add excitement to your favourite flavours, customers may also add-on additional toppings,  which includes Toasted Coconut, Speculoos Sauce, Chocolate Sauce, Oreo Crumbs and Granola.

As part of the opening, Kelava is also offering opening promotions, including Buy One, Free Topping where customers  can get a free topping with every scoop from 5th December until 7th December.

From 8th December to 11th December,  customers may Buy One ice cream and get their second scoop for free.

Kelava will also be giving out 50% off every  second scoop every Friday, from this 9th December onwards.

ASICS Sportstyle unveils the Malaysian-inspired ASICS GEL-LYTE™ III “Teh Tarik”

Following the success of the GEL-Kayano™ 5 OG “Nasi Lemak” (2019) and GEL-LYTE™ III “Kuala Lumpur Twin Towers” (2020), Malaysian streetwear store HUNDRED% together with SneakerLAH, Malaysia’s biggest sneaker event as well as ASICS Malaysia join forces to launch yet another locally inspired sneaker, honouring the Malaysian roots.

This year, the concept behind the collaboration for ASICS’s most prominent silhouette, the GEL-LYTE™ III, was inspired by Malaysia’s most popular drink, the Teh Tarik. Literally translated as “pulled tea”, the popular beverage is made from a strong brew of black tea blended with condensed milk that is most commonly found in mamak stalls, restaurants as well as kopitiams around the country.

The GEL-LYTE™ III “Teh Tarik” colourway draws inspiration from the national drink, with bold caramel suede to resemble the variant shades of milk tea, and a debossed “LAH” branding presenting itself on the upper to commemorate the pair as a true Malaysian collaboration.

The sneaker features inter-changeable eye-catching stripes that mimic the splashes made by the process of the pulled tea.

The speckles and imprints on the insole represent the stain left behind by the glass of Teh Tarik, while the white translucent sole mirrors the gleaming surface of the tables usually found in the mamaks or kopitiams.

“The Teh Tarik is a national drink that draws Malaysians together from all walks of life, connecting people from different races, cultures, and religion. Available at any time of the day, this popular drink is made by continuously pouring (or "pulling") a strong, hot tea mixture blended with sweet and creamy condensed milk between two cups or mugs until it becomes a thick, frothy tea heaven.

The milk tea is “pulled” in a theatrical display to aerate as well as enhance the deep flavours of the tea, which served as our inspiration in the overall design for this unique masterpiece. With the GEL-LYTE™ III “Teh Tarik”, we hope to share Malaysia’s multicultural diversity with the rest of the world, an icon that bridges the gap across generations,” said Boon Tib Soom Nik, Country Manager of ASICS Malaysia.

Pricing & Availability

The ASICS GEL-LYTE™ III “Teh Tarik” retails for RM 699 and will be launched for retail on 3rd December at HOME Concept Store and 4th December via online raffle on SneakerLAH.com.
