Sun Life Malaysia Lighted Up International Friendship Day with #YouAreMySunshine Mini Event

Sun Life Malaysia, celebrated the spirit of International Friendship Day with a heartwarming #YouAreMySunshine mini event recently on 29 July 2023, to highlight the profound joy that friends and friendships bring into our lives, inspired by the timeless wisdom of the saying, “When you plant a seed of friendship, you reap a bouquet of happiness”


This specially curated event was hosted at Sun Life Malaysia's latest outdoor brand pop-up installation located outside the buzzing Fahrenheit88 in Bukit Bintang, Kuala Lumpur. Dubbed the “Sunny Wonderland”, this multi-faceted photo-worthy brand installation aims to bring people together for a moment of shared camaraderie, bringing to live Sun Life Malaysia’s brand tagline: “Life is always brighter the under the sun”.


The atmosphere during the event was filled with cheer, accompanied by live music that encompassed the themes of friendship and happiness, performed by a talented busker.

Curious visitors from all walks of life dropped by the booth and readily immersed themselves in an evening of celebration. There was an engaging “Sunny Trivia” challenge to test visitors’ knowledge of their friends, parents, siblings, or partners. Those who answered correctly were rewarded with a vibrant sunflower each, symbolising the blossoming and radiant nature of their bonds.


Exclusive Sun Life Malaysia’s 10th anniversary merchandises were up for grabs for those who can answer  simple questions about the company in the “SunLifeHappy10” Trivia Quiz as well as Tealive vouchers for those who snapped and shared picture or video of themselves with their loved ones at the Sun Life outdoor brand installation.


This event is part of Sun Life Malaysia’s 10th Anniversary year-long celebratory initiatives designed with the objective of uplifting spirits and bringing sunshine to a person’s life.

Yours truly was over at The Raw Studio by Metal Bees to witness Huawei Malaysia’s triumphant conclusion of the Zoom Into Malaysia Photography Contest, celebrated with a joyous award ceremony 


The event honoured exceptional talents behind the lens, recognising winners with coveted prizes including the HUAWEI P60 Pro, HUAWEI WATCH FIT and HUAWEI FreeBuds 5. 


The contest's overwhelming response showcased Huawei's commitment to fostering creativity within Malaysia's photography community.


The Zoom Into Malaysia Photography Contest, which ran from May till June, successfully drew a total of 4,100 participants from across Malaysia, providing a captivating platform for both professional and mobile photographers enthusiasts to exhibit their unique photography and videography skills. 


Participants were invited to capture the awe-inspiring beauty of Malaysia using Huawei smartphones, allowing them to unleash their creativity and perspective in portraying the nation's rich landscapes and vibrant cultural moments.


One of our friends, Aereon Wong was also the runner up winners with his breathtaking photo of a yacht during sunset

Happy birthday to the award-winning cultural precinct Tokyo Street in Pavilion Kuala Lumpur!!! Tokyo Street is celebrating its 12th anniversary with an exciting 'Harajuku Kawaii' themed campaign. The event was made even more special as Pavilion Kuala Lumpur happens to be celebrating their 15th anniversary, making it a double celebration for all to enjoy!

The celebration promises to showcase the best of kawaii culture, featuring Instagrammable props, enchanting decorations, captivating pop-ups, and myriad engaging activities. Shoppers are invited to indulge in a remarkable fusion of Japanese culture, dining, shopping, anime, cosplay and festival – all at Pavilion Kuala Lumpur.

For the second consecutive year, Pavilion KL is thrilled to collaborate with AniManGaki, one of Malaysia's largest animation, comics, and games conventions, bringing forth an array of exciting events, including highly anticipated competitions, runway shows, and captivating displays. The grand launch of Tokyo Street's 12th anniversary celebration took place today at Pavilion Kuala Lumpur. The event was attended by esteemed guests of honour, including His Excellency Mr. Katsuhiko Takahashi, the Japanese Ambassador to Malaysia; Madam Mami Takahashi, wife of the Japanese Ambassador; and Puan Sri Cindy Lim, Executive Chairman of Pavilion Kuala Lumpur.  

Other guests include Ms Mai Onozawa, Managing Director of Japan External Trade Organisation (JETRO); Mr. Daisuke Tanaka, Secretary-General of Japanese Chamber of Trade & Industry, Malaysia; Mr Masashi Shiraishi, President of the Japan Club of Kuala Lumpur; Ms Fumi Matsumoto, Executive Director of the Japan National Tourism Organisation, Kuala Lumpur Office; Mr B Ravintharan, Heads of Cards, Group CFS, Maybank; and International cosplay sensation KNITE.

As part of the celebration, guests were treated to an impressive Yukata Parade featuring more than 60 students from SEGi University ushering guests of honour from the Main Entrance to Tokyo Street. Embracing Japanese tradition, a Kagami Biraki sake breaking ceremony was conducted by the esteemed guests of honour, symbolising good fortune and jubilation. The excitement continued as international cosplay star KNITE engaged in a meet-and-greet with the audience, and took part in the 12th anniversary cake cutting ceremony to mark the momentous 12th anniversary milestone. 


At Tokyo Street, shoppers will be transported to the streets of Harajuku where they can indulge in Japanese street food, with pop-ups from Frost n Bites, Tokyo Teppan, Kakiyuki, Okonomi, and Gindaco & Croissant Taiyaki. 

Shoppers can also explore the Harajuku Kawaii Pop-Up Festival, which offers a host of experiential workshops, including a DIY phone case workshop, express bling nail art manicures, fashion booths showcasing Harajuku's iconic style, and various booths and displays featuring figurines, toys, and dolls to awaken the inner collector in everyone.

Pavilion Kuala Lumpur is proud to host the Japan Embassy's ‘Seasons of Japan’ exhibition at Tokyo Street from August 5th to 28th. The exhibition will showcase a variety of Japanese dolls and decorations, including warrior May Dolls (Kabuto); ornamental Hina Dolls that represent the emperor, empress, and their court; a Tanabata Tree for shoppers to hang their wishes; and intricate tea sets.
