Having the joyous time of your life at Suria KLCC’s Santa Workshop

Suria KLCC is transformed into the fabled “Santa’s Workshop” where Santa Claus and his elves are said to craft toys and presents to be given out during Christmas.

Throughout Suria KLCC’s Christmas campaign, the hub of Santa’s amazing toy workshop can be found at the mall’s Centre Court until 25 December 2022. Here, you will be greeted with the sights and sounds befitting a season of joy and merriment. Watch as Santa is assisted by his hard-working elves and mechanical arms in packing presents at the toy-making carousel. A whimsical clock tower also bursts into life every hour, with festive music featuring adorable elves and nutcrackers in synchronised movements.

This is also where Santa goes through his naughty or nice list. Shoppers will be able to submit their names on an interactive screen and find out if they made it into Santa’s naughty or nice list to receive a surprise gift! This surprise gift is limited to the first 100 shoppers per day.

Shoppers are bound to have a wonder-filled Christmas shopping experience at Suria KLCC. A Christmas Card Corner invites shoppers to send the season’s greetings to loved ones with Suria KLCC’s Christmas Cards.

Children, on the other hand, will be excited to experience the Santa’s Workshop Alive! feature. Here, they can colour their favourite Christmas characters, scan them and watch them come to life on-screen. During the weekends, shoppers can also meet Santa Claus and children will receive a lollipop from him!

Photo opportunities galore with plenty of festive backdrops to capture the mood of the season. Ramlee Mall at Level 1 features a small-scale Santa’s Workshop, while the Ampang and Ramlee Mall entrances feature counters and shelves where the toys and presents are stored. Meanwhile, Santa’s sleigh can be found stationed at the Park Mall entrance, poised to deliver gifts. There is also a Festive Photobooth where shoppers can embody memories with loved ones with complimentary photo print-outs together with e-copies for social media uploads.

The iconic tallest Christmas tree in Malaysia — standing at a whopping 100 feet tall — returns to The Esplanade to greet visitors in all its grandeur. Not only is it brilliantly lit up and adorned with baubles and ornaments, but it also features an abundance of presents on conveyor belts at its base — an extension of the Santa’s Workshop theme. This creates a more Instagrammable moment for visitors.

A Christmas shopping experience would not be complete without shoppers receiving Christmas rewards. Shoppers who spend RM1,500 and above in two receipts at any specialty stores from 25 November to 18 December 2022 will receive a RM100 Suria KLCC (SKLCC) e-Voucher via the Shoppers’ Rewards Programme. Meanwhile, those who spend RM3,000 and above in two receipts at any specialty stores will receive a Pandora bracelet set worth RM600.

“With these rewards in place, we hope that they will help our retailers make the best out of this joyous season as we wrap up the calendar year on a high note,” said Andrew Brien, CEO of Suria KLCC.

Brien added, “Christmas has always been a special time for us at Suria KLCC as no expense is spared in creating an uplifting festive atmosphere for shoppers. However, we also take careful consideration in maintaining safe spaces where people can come together with peace of mind to welcome the year-end festivities.

“At the end of the day, Christmas is so much more than amazing décor and stunning displays — it’s about getting together with loved ones. After making it through the last few turbulent years, we have much to celebrate and be happy for.”

In an ongoing initiative of the Mental Health Awareness programme, Suria KLCC has pledged to support the Green Ribbon Group through monetary sales of the Suria Ribbon Pin. The ribbon pin can be purchased from the Concierge at RM10 per pin.

IC-CFS Project Showcase at KLCC Convention Centre

The “Improving Connectivity in the Central Forest Spine Landscape” (IC-CFS) project was designed to assist the Malaysian Government in addressing the fragmentation of the Central Forest Spine in Peninsular Malaysia, with conserving the CFS areas which have high megadiversity of species, including the only remaining population of Malayan tigers….

The project was endorsed in 2014 and to date, remains highly relevant and represents important opportunities of cross-dissemination to inform the Government of Malaysia’s (GoM) flagship Central Forest Spine initiative as well as Malaysia’s commitment in international convention specifically the Convention on Biological Diversity to maintain at least 50% of forest and tree cover in perpetuity.

Every project has its ups and downs and IC-CFS is no exception. The project got off on a slow start and experienced a mix of implementation challenges including the Covid pandemic.

Nonetheless, the project made several adjustments and put in place effective-adaptive management plans, showcasing its versatility and adaptability to weather the storms which enabled the project to receive its final project continuation until December 2023.

As the project steps on the pedal to cross the finishing line by end of 2023, it is evident from today’s showcase that the project is making a concerted effort to document its key achievements and transfer of knowledge to all agencies.

The IC-CFS project has been made successful thanks to the support of all agencies such as the Jabatan Perhutanan Semenanjung Malaysia (JPSM), Jabatan Perlindungan Hidupan Liar dan Taman Negara Semenanjung Malaysia (PERHILITAN), Institut Penyelidikan Perhutanan Malaysia (FRIM), Jabatan Perhutanan Negeri (JPN) Perak, Pahang and Johor as well as NGO such as World Wide Fund for Nature Malaysia (WWF), Malaysian Nature Society (MNS), Pelindung Alam Malaysia (PELINDUNG), Malaysian Rainforest Station (MRS) and Malaysian Conservation Alliance for Tiger (MyCAT)…

Like it or not, we are in an unprecedented moment in the history of our planet, with warning signs flashing red. However, we have the choice to unlock policies, capacities and finances for the social, economic, and environmental transformations needed to rebalance our social and planetary systems, so that humans, nature and the planet may thrive together.

Sustainability must be the key focus. And as we are gearing towards the Convention on Biological Diversity COP15 next month, member states will discuss the post-2020 Biodiversity Framework – a new set of global biodiversity targets to put a stop to the loss of biodiversity and ecosystems.

UNDP -United Nations Development Program is committed to assist the Government of Malaysia in addressing the global crisis through early implementations of post-2020 Global Biodiversity Framework - Early Action Support funds by GEF and the spin off project ‘Building Institutional Capacities to Reduce the Poaching and Trafficking of Iconic Wildlife and Wildlife Products in Malaysia’ in collaboration with KeTSA.

UNDP stands ready to walk this journey with you as we make this ambitious commitments and targets happen, building forward a better, greener and fairer future for Malaysia and the world.

Malaysia has been identified as one of the 17 megadiverse countries that have 70 percent of the known species in the world. Biodiversity is a valuable natural asset of the country in maintaining the natural environment as well as life-support systems in various sectors such as agriculture, forestry, fisheries, medicine and tourism.

Currently, Malaysia’s forest cover is 18.28 million hectares or 55.3 percent of its total land area. The government will continued their commitment to keep the 1992 Earth Summit Pledge which is to maintain at least 50 percent forest and tree cover in Malaysia. Today, three decades later, Malaysia has not reneged on that pledge….
