Movie Screening 2023 - Anwar, The Untold Story

I was one of the lucky ones who were invited to the special media and VIP screening of the much-awaited 'Anwar, The Untold Story’ at the Dadi Cinema Pavilion KL yesterday…

The movie tells the story of our Malaysian Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim's political exploits, was also attended by the Prime Minister himself… 

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said he was emotionally overwhelmed after watching his own biopic ‘Anwar, The Untold Story’ during a special media and VIP screening event at the Dadi Cinema Pavillion KL

The Prime Minister relived memories of his struggle to fight injustice and corruption through the one-hour 30 minutes film directed by Indonesia’s Viva Westi who also attended the special screening event.

Anwar who held a press conference with the local and international media after watching the film said it was overwhelming to look back at a crucial part of his life but credited the actors and director for keeping it real.

“This is a story that must be told, the battle against corruption continues. Now that I am prime minister, I want to save this country and fight corruption and fight them hard," he said to a round of applause.

The film set between 1993 and 1998 revealed Anwar’s time as Malaysia’s Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister and highlighted his struggle to consistently and decisively oppose corrupt practices but ended up in prison.

The film, directed by Indonesia's Viva Westi, stars local Malaysian actor Farid Kamil Zahari in the lead role as Anwar Ibrahim. Famed Indonesian actress Acha Septriasa plays the role of Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail.

In addition to Malaysia, the biopic was also filmed in Indonesia at a cost of RM10 million.

Set between 1993 and 1998, the core of the biopic will reveal Anwar's time as Malaysia's Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister.

The event was organised by DMY Creation, the established company which is the official distributor for ‘Anwar, The Untold Story' and which is co-distributed by Yusrych Global - Mr. Yusry Makmor, helmed by the film's executive producer Zukiflee Anwar Haque or better known as Zunar.

DMY Creation's founder and chairman Datuk Mohamed Yusoff encouraged all Malaysians to watch the film to know the struggles the prime minister had faced and to witness a glimpse of his journey which is one of the most remarkable political turnarounds in modern Southeast Asian history.

"We hope everyone especially youths will support and watch this film to know the real struggle of our prime minister. The film shows the importance of eradicating corruption in the country," he said.

Anwar watched the film with his close family members along with the company of VIPs including those from the entertainment industry, political figures and celebrities.

A total of 1,870 guests including 500 local and international press members watched the film in 13 specially dedicated halls.

DMY Creation is well known for distributing major international and local films and organizing major live entertainment shows.

Among those who were present at the high profile event was none other than Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail; Malaysia's songbird Datuk Seri Siti Nurhaliza; Communications and Digital Minister Fahmi Fadzil; musician, actor, and artist Datuk M Nasir; veteran actress and producer Fauziah Ahmad Daud; DMY Creation's founder and chairman Datuk Mohamed Yusoff; prolific lyricist and scriptwriter Habsah Hassan; local film producer Datuk Yusof Haslam and popular filmmaker Datuk David Teo among others…. I saw Hans Isaac and Norman KRU too….

Also at the event was the executive chairman of Kuala Lumpur Pavilion Sdn Bhd Puan Sri Cindy Lim; and Yusrych Global Managing Director Yusry Makmor…

Siti Nurhaliza was revealed to be the voice for the Original Sound Track (OST for the biopic.

The song, "Menjaga Cintamu" that is composed by Andi Rianto and written by Sekar Ayu Asmara.

The special screening event started with guest arrivals at 7pm followed by Prime Minister Anwar's arrival at 8.30pm. The film began at 9pm followed by a press conference with local and international media at 11pm.

The movie is definitely sad, and make me understand our Prime Minister better….

Dates are also a rich concentration of antioxidants which can be beneficial for your cardiac and pulmonary health, making them one of the most ideal heart-healthy foods, and after going through the pandemic, most of us need to consume heart - healthy food more!!!

One of the best reasons to eat dates is that it reduces our cholesterol and can help to manage your weight.

Anyway I started snacking on Natural Delights Medjool Dates …

I was looking through the internet and came across Dietitian Georgen Thye who created 2 recipes using Natural Delights Medjool Dates and we gave it a try….

Here is the recipe of Dates Chia Seeds Oatmeal Cookies if you wanna try too….

Ingredients:

10 Natural Delights Medjool Dates, pitted and tear into small pieces

1 cup instant oats

1 cup all purpose flour

1/2 tsp baking soda

1/2 tsp salt

1/2 tsp ground cinnamon

120g unsalted butter, softened

1/4 cup brown sugar

1 tsp vanilla extract

1 egg

1/8 cup chia seeds

Instructions:

Preheat the oven to 180 degree celsius and line a baking tray with parchment paper.

In a medium bowl, whisk together the oats, flour, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon.

In a separate large bowl, cream the softened butter and brown sugar together until light and fluffy.

Add the egg and vanilla extract to the butter-sugar mixture and whisk until well combined.

Add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and stir until well combined.

Fold in the Natural Delights Medjool dates and chia seeds.

Roll the dough into small balls and arrange onto the prepared baking tray, spacing the cookies about 2 inches apart.

Press them down gently with a fork

Bake for 15 minutes or until the edges are golden brown.

Remove from the oven and let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.
