Puas Puas Raya with California Raisins



I was over at the California Raisins ‘Puas Puas Puasa’ event at Royal Chulan Hotel, Kuala Lumpur recently... and was immediately stunned when asked to decorate some cookies or cupcakes.. We were given the choice to choose and the decorative add ons were all given ranging from pandan leaves, raisins, colourful hundred thousands, colourful stars, tiny paper parasols, ribbons etc...



My brain could not think, but I just got working with the pandan leaves and weaved it into a mat or ketupat kinda design.. Then I proceeded to fill the cuppies with icing which was not a great idea since they melted... and some straws, parasols and marshmallows.. and of course... raisins... now who does not like sundried raisins... I obviously love them to bits...


Still, I considered my creation pretty lame and proceeded to unabashly pluck off one of those dangly California Raisins advert and placed it on my plate as well...


Then we had some background and how California Raisins are produced as well as the ‘Puas Puas Puasa’ knowledge-sharing event where we learnt shares how to stay energetic throughout the fasting period of Ramadan by consuming California Raisins as well as the correct and proper way to break fast properly to avoid over eating and gastrititis.... which is to have some raisins and water just as you break fast... then go for your Maghrib prayers before only eating a heavier meal...



The very pretty TV9 news reader, Nur Affizza Azmi was the Master Chef of the day and proceeded to demonstrate how to prepare 3 recipes using California Raisins for busy and active working people to enjoy during the fasting month which was the California Raisin Tomyum Chicken Angel Hair Pasta, California Raisin Sweet & Sour Doughnuts and California Raisin Puas Smoothies.... 



These recipes seem pretty easy to prepare and you can whip up a meal in like 10 minutes... perfect for busy people...



California Raisins are a great choice for a healthy snack for both adults and kids.... Dried in the warm California sunshine,the little dried fruits has many benefits that helps to maintain a healthy lifestyle compared with other snack foods, as they are naturally sweet and do not contain any added sugar....


California Raisins are also a very versatile ingredient and can do wonders in the preparation of many assorted dishes-from appetisers and main dishes to desserts and beverages in the form of being a natural sugar replacement... Ideal especially for those who are more health conscious and more adventurous in their culinary endeavours.... My best friend often keeps a small box of California Raisins in his briefcase.... and of course desk drawer

They also conveniently fit in lunch boxes, gym bags.... 

California Raisins are pretty economical, do not bruise and are easy to use straight out of the box- no washing, peeling or chopping required-so one can create a simple meal to help you maintain your energy throughout the day...


And oh.. for my mediocre efforts, I was surprised I was one of the winners for the California Raisins decorating contest... huhuhu... thanks judges.. the money definitely comes in handy for a single mom... hehehe...
