‘THE ARTISANS SHOWCASE’ AT THE LINC KL SHINES A LIGHT ON ARTISANS

Artisans and small businesses on The Artisans Haven was given the golden opportunity to showcase their unique and passionately creative fine crafts at the trendy retail mall, The Linc KL recently...


Compact exhibitions in five categories  displayed unique products under Sweets and Treats, Home and Living, Action and Adventure, Beauty and Fashion as well as Arts and Collectibles.

The Artisans Haven may be holding monthly free exhibitions of the products at The Linc KL, if this proves successful..

The Artisans Haven was set up at the height of MCO 1.0, to help artisans and small businesses, which were reeling under the pressure of retail closures, to market their crafts online....

The Linc KL, which is a part of the PPB Group, property division, is a strong supporter of local artisans, designers, artists and other small businesses....

Through this partnership, artisans will have an on-ground presence at The Linc, which in turn, will also boost its online presence on The Artisans Haven....

Raj Mahal, famous for his YouTube videos on Ayy-Men, a premiere talk show on being a modern man, was the on-ground anchor for the exhibition.

 
Known for bringing energy, fun and laughter to every video and event that he hosts, Raj is the founder of Raj Mahal Entertainment, an event and content consultation company as well as Rawr Creatives, a branding and marketing creative agency....


 
With the theme of ‘Homemade and Accolade,’ local artisans introduced their special Sweets and Treats; with about 12 artisans sharing interesting ideas on how to refresh and restyle your home under Home and Living.   


Visitors got a first-hand opportunity to speak to 4 adventurous artisans in areas such as health and fitness, motorcross sports and 4 by 4 overland exploration and outdoor activities....
 

Meanwhile, ten local artisans will showcase their original crafts and designs under Beauty and Fashion, while another ten artisans inspired with their limited edition range of collectibles....


To commemorate this launch, The Linc KL generously donated a permanent window display for The Artisans Haven to showcase their products, on a rotation basis, all year round...

The Albab’s, resident buskers at The Artisans Haven, also got to debut their music studio, going from busking at Jalan Bukit Bintang, Kuala Lumpur, to online busking...

The Albab’s performed their original rendition of the theme song for The Artisans Haven –Ahoy Artisans, Jiwa Wawasan - LIVE at The Linc KL.

Those who were interested in the arts had the opportunity to meet up with Enfiniti Academy and three scholarship holders from The Artisans Haven for their studies of the arts at the Academy, as well as view the scholarships available for arts, sports and a whole range of courses at the Scholarships2U slot...


Among some of the artisans exhibiting their products are: Under the Sweets and Treats section, The Cakery which was also started at the height of MCO 1.0, has continued its expansion to Penang, providing part time and full time jobs to bakers and at Padma’s Dapur that sells a variety of coconut candy... (Padma Narayanan, a former training administration manager, enjoys good sales among friends and family but wanted to reach out further through the virtual mall.)

At the Handmade by Artisans section, multi-talented designer Poesy Liang, who created the luxury jewellery brand POEZ in 2004, has come up with a line of accessories to help people look their best even when masking up; while hand and brush award-winning painter Sashtri Vivekanda will showcase his creation of life-like portraits...

In terms of Beauty and Fashion, TAS by Woman of Substance has a range of attractive, limited edition handmade bags that can suit different preferences and occasions; with over 50 types of skin care products while Mageline World helps bring out women’s natural beauty and
enhance their confidence in the glow of their own skin....



Under Home Living, treasures from the Natural Life collection of cute coffee mugs, lunch bags with their outdoor-themed designs and soft tapestry blankets lend a happy feel all round while new scents and room mists from Candle Pit Stop permeates the air... The Candle Pit Stop has also just launched a range of wax melts....

Social enterprises under The Artisans Haven’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) theme of #ShopforGood was featured, from coffee processed by the disabled at Beautiful Gate Foundation to handmade cloth bags by Community Excel Services, a non-profit organization that serves individuals and communities..

RC Deaf Missions, has a café operated by Deaf staff, got to introduce their delicious menu, cakes and ‘Deaf craft.’.

From just 30 tenants in May last year, The Artisans Haven has seen a 300% increase to over 120 online tenants, together with increasing corporate partnerships and media support.


Seeing the fine quality of artisanal products, The Artisans Haven wants to showcase their labour of love and hopes for increasing public support to help them sustain their living in current difficult times...

As part of its CSR, The Linc KL has a similar mission to support not only artisans and small businesses, but also single parents and sustainable projects that include urban or rooftop farming and textile waste recycling.

It strives to educate the young generation on biodiversity, through education and conservation programs such as its current Chrysalis project that encourages people to ‘Adopt a Caterpillar and Host Plant.’

The Linc KL also supports an association for medically challenged children, called Tender Hearts where the children are given free space during the weekends to cook and bake - the management would then buy their products and donate to other organisations.

Locals including craftsmen, housewives and artisans with special skills are invited to set up their businesses at The Linc KL, initially, at no cost....

With like-minded partners in The Artisans Haven and The Linc KL, there are strong factors for success; it is hoped that the public will lend their support for this worthwhile project to also help enhance the tradition of ‘homemade is heartmade.’
