Food Review 2020 - Tosca, DoubleTree Hilton Johor Bahru

My best friends / additional adopted family members and I had the opportunity to dine in the beautiful trattoria-style restaurant at the DoubleTree by Hilton Johor Bahru, where I swear, we had one of the most unforgettable and yummiest dinner ever...

Tosca goes incorporates classic Italian-style cooking with premium ingredients to indulge their diners with authentic Italian dishes...

Our dinner started with some cheese selection at the unique Cheese Room which offered pretty top-notch selections from across Europe – UK (Blue Stilton, Applewood Smoked Cheddar); Italy (Gorgonzola, Provolone, Soresina Dolce, Taleggio, Grana Padano); Switzerland (Emmenthal); Spain (Queso Iberico, Manchego Dop); Netherlands (Edam, Beemster); Ireland (Wicklow Cheddar); and France (Bleu Bresse, Roquefort Crouzat, Camembert, Brie, Cantal Jeune, Rondin Goat Cheese, Petit Pave D’auge, Raboliot Mi Affine, Langres Aop, Comte Aop, Le Napoleon Commingeois Brebis), and more....

You can try out these superb best from Europe cheeses at the Cheese Room at only RM38.00nett per person...

Tosca offers hearty flavours through simple, quality-sourced ingredients such as top-grade olive oil, fresh tomatoes and herbs; all of which are the foundation for the rustic cooking methods...

At Tosca, sauces are simmered for hours to obtain the best aroma, while pizzas are baked in traditional woodfire ovens for crisp, airy crusts like the good old days.

There are appetisers like Prawn Salad and Antipasto Misto.

We absolutely loved some the signature dishes we got to try from the menu - the Scoglio Squid Ink (squid ink pasta with tiger prawns, Hokkaido scallops, Kinkawooka mussels, Cloudy Bay clams and squid...)... I know I want to try the Vongole (a clam-centric pasta with a delicious sauce) next time I dine there...

We indulged in the Calzone Bomba (oven-baked folded pizza stuffed with turkey ham, wilted spinach, egg and other ingredients) which was also just absolutely delicious....

As well as their seasonal menu - Breaded Lemongrass Seafood Cake.. It sounded weird and I was not sure whether I would like it when it arrived on our table but after our first bite, we were practically fighting over the last bites...

Meat lovers will love their dry aged meat.. Consisting of varieties of Angus cuts - such as striploin, ribeye, shortloin, and op ribs are available...

The meat have been aged in a meat ageing machine dryer for 21 days, ensuring a more pronounced flavour...

My friends indulged themselves in desserts such as Affogato (a coffee-based dessert with a scoop of vanilla ice cream topping a shot of hot espresso) and Gianduja (a decadent chocolate-hazelnut paste) as an after-meal delight.

Being a Creme Brulee fan, I of course could not resist having one... Which was just soooo yummy...

Overall, as mentioned, this was one of the most satisfying and best dinner  we had.... And I would so give the restaurant 5 stars....
