LOTUS’S MALAYSIA RECORDING HIGHER CASHLESS PAYMENTS; ANNOUNCES PARTNERSHIP WITH SHOPEEPAY

Lotuss Stores (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd (Lotus’s Malaysia), formerly known as Tesco Malaysia, expands its contactless payment ecosystem to now accept ShopeePay. This is in response to the 25 per cent year-on-year increase in cashless payments recorded amongst its shoppers.

“The Covid-19 pandemic and coupled with the convenience, security, and support from the government, have influenced the adoption of cashless payments in Malaysia. Given the growing reliance on e-wallets, we need to ensure that all available options are accessible to our shoppers,” said Vivian Yap, Customer Executive Director of Lotus’s Malaysia.

“With ShopeePay’s rising popularity as seen from the market’s reaction during the rollout of eBelia, we trust that this partnership will add value to both Lotus’s shoppers as well as ShopeePay users.

Customers will also get to enjoy cashbacks when they pay for their groceries using ShopeePay at any of our 62 stores nationwide, thus allowing them to enjoy greater savings,” adds Yap.

Alain Yee, Head of ShopeePay Malaysia notes that the increase in cashless payments in Lotus’s shows positive adoption of contactless payments in the country.

“The year-on-year increase in cashless payments at a huge retail chain like Lotus’s shows that there is an increase in awareness as well as adoption for cashless transactions in Malaysia. Given our value proposition as an e-commerce platform with a wide market penetration nationwide, we believe that we are in a unique position to synergise both offline and online retail,” said Yee.

“Our partnership with Lotus’s Malaysia started with them launching their official store on Shopee and to now have ShopeePay accepted at Lotus’s physical stores is indeed a step forward in deepening our relationship. We will always look for mutually beneficial ways to support Lotus’s business objectives starting with a launch campaign which will reward consumers with a handsome cashback,” he said.

To commemorate Lotus’s partnership with ShopeePay, customers will receive an RM4 cashback with a minimum spend of RM40 in a single transaction when they pay for their groceries with ShopeePay at any Lotus’s outlet.

Starting from now till 29 September 2021 and in conjunction with Shopee 8.8 Brands Festival, each shopper is also entitled to a maximum of two cashbacks throughout the campaign period.
On top of that, customers can also enjoy an RM3 cashback with a minimum spend of RM15 when they use ShopeePay at any Lotus’s stores from now until 31 December 2021. However, each user is only entitled to the RM3 cashback once daily.
