Samsung Galaxy A8 (2018) and A8+ (2018) splashes into Malaysia

The much-anticipated Samsung Galaxy A8 (2018) and A8+ (2018) make a splashing debut into the Malaysian market recently...at the Sky Bar, Traders Hotel Kuala Lumpur...

The Sky Bar was packed with invited guests as well as members of the media and social media influencers who were all curious about the new Samsung smartphones, which were also the first Samsung phones with dual front cameras..

Both the Galaxy A8 (2018) and A8+ (2018) happen to also be IP68 water and dust resistance so whether you’re planning on taking underwater pool selfies or on the go and need to answer calls in a heavy rain, I can assure you you will have no problem and no worries doing that. My own S8 has been a favorite with my team members since they know it is waterproof and they have used it at the waterfalls and also swimming pools...so I know how convenient this feature is...

It can be submerged for up to 30 minutes at a depth of up to 1.5m, but in controlled environments like a swimming pool...

To prove it to everyone, Samsung Malaysia Electronics president Yoonsoo Kim dropped a Galaxy A8+ into the pool, where the launch was held.

After almost five minutes, the phone was retrieved by the National Synchronized Swimming Team and Yoonsoo Kim took the phone from them and took a wefie with them...

The main camera on the back is 16 megapixels and features video digital image stabilisation (VDis) so you can record shake-free videos and hyperlapse for capturing time-lapse clips.

The A8 and A8+ have 5.6in and 6in FHD+ Super Amoled screens, respectively, but with the same resolution of 1,080 x 2,220 pixels. As it’s an Infinity Display, the screen goes all the way to the sides and has a 18.5:9 display ratio for an immersive viewing experience.

Both models run on Android 7.1.1 (Nougat) and are powered by a eight-core processor (2 x 2.2GHz + 6 x 1.6GHz).
The A8 has a 3,000mAh battery and 4GB RAM with 32GB storage, while the A8+ boasts a 3,500mAh battery with 6GB RAM and 64GB storage. Both phones support microSD cards for adding more memory.
Both phones support Samsung Pay and feature the company’s AI assistant, Bixby.

Available in Black, Gold and Orchid Gray, the price for the Galaxy A8 is RM1,799 while the Galaxy A8+ goes for RM2,499.
