Read this if you are travelling via AirAsia

Hands up if you have eaten unpalatable in-flight food before... Heaven knows how many not quite palatable in-flight food had me wincing as I try to force feed myself to eat them on various airlines which I am not about to divulge...

I was at the Penthouse of the WOLO hotel in Bukit Bintang, where AirAsia and AirAsia X launched their brand new in-flight menu concept aptly-themed 'Santan'

'Santan' is coconut milk, an ingredient very familiar to all Asean communities, and AirAsia, being a truly Asean airline, will be introducing several dishes from across the Asean region into its in-flight menu, beginning with Nasi Dagang in the current menu cycle as can be seen on the cover of the new menu

Ok, let's so a little rundown... so... among the new dishes which is available on  AirAsia  (AK) flights for on board purchases are:-
Nasi Dagang with Chicken Curry and served with Dodol
Teriyaki Chicken Rice Cake
Smoked Chicken Pizza Sandwich

While the new pre-book meals are:-
Tomato Rice with Ayam Percik
Chicken Satay Wrap
Vegetable Pasta with Roast Chicken....

.....and.....I can personally assure you they are pretty good and flavorful unlike some of the bland and weird tasting on-flight meals I have tasted before this.... I have also promised myself to order one of these meals other then my favorite Pak Nasser Nasi Lemak when I fly with AirAsia next...have to learn to break the habit... LOL

Anyway if and when you are flying with AirAsia X (D7) flights, then your new pre-book meal options are:-
Nasi Dagang combo
Mee Goreng Mamak combo
(have you tried this? This used to be my second favorite thing to order after Pak Nasser Nasi Lemak, but now I have to get to ordering these other scrumptious meals....)
Anyway, these combos include a bottle of 350ml mineral water.

There are plenty of other options as well as the Roast Chicken with Cream Sauce, Big Breakfast and I really have to say the Roti Canai with Chicken Curry is just so mouthwateringly good also.......

Nasi Dagang is also available for on-board purchase if you are flying with AirAsia X...great news right... I absolutely LOVE the accompanying chicken curry....

Hmmm.... is there an option for on-board take away??? I wonder... LOL

Besides the new pre-book meals on AirAsia (AK) flights, you can also add a sweet ending to the meal of your choice with the introduction of the 'Maximise Your Meal' option which includes a Salted Caramel Cookie Bar and a Kit Kat for just RM7 to complete your in-flight meal!!!

You really have to try this one (and the other cookies) ... it is scrumptious and despite it being one big cookie, it was almost not enough for me....huhuhu

For those travelling with children on both AirAsia (AK) and AirAsia X (D7) flights can also pre-book the Kids Meal which consists of two mini chicken burgers, a Ribena and a Potato Head superhero collectible toy!!! And the chicken burgers come with such cute happy faces...

Tony Fernandes and AirAsia , be kind to us and please, please open up a 'Santan' restaurant for all of us less frequent flyers already... the food is too good to miss!!!! I am craving for some of these  delicious meals and it is a while before my next trip... sob...sob....

So to those of you travelling and to all you frequent flyers, go ahead Indulge with Santan....

Tony Fernandes, Group CEO of AirAsia said, "Our ancillary team is always looking for ways on how we can improve our guests' in-flight experience. Food of course plays a major part but we don't want to just sell food, but also use out in-flight experience to introduce Asean dishes to all our guests. We are pleased to start off with Nasi Dagang, which is a famous Malaysian cuisine as an introduction, and will look into introducing other dishes from other parts of Asean in our next 'Santan' menu cycle..."

All AirAsia and AirAsia X guests are encouraged to pre-book their meals to save up to 20% as compared to purchasing their meals on board, with a guarantee that their preferred meals are available...

If you happen to have booked your flights without meals, you can easily add them in via the 'Manage My Booking' option after logging in to airasia.com

Yeah.... that was my plate and what was loaded on it during the food tasting... hehehe, and seriously, if I wasn't so stuffed after eating these, I would have gone back for seconds...

By the way, T&Co was founded on the basis that 'because everyone deserves great coffee', and to create a better coffee experience for everyone, no matter where you are. The T&Co team are made up of travellers, entrepreneurs and all round coffee enthusiasts who have worked to develop a special Altitude Blend catered for dull taste buds while flying.

High altitude  A Grade Robusta beans from South America and Asia are lightly roasted to create an intense blend with a sweeter and more delicate sipping sensation...

  1. The in-flight menu all seem so good to eat! I couldnt believe that they are gonna to beat other Malaysia Airlines in providing such good professional in catering food only in AirAsia and AirAsia X. Wow, the theme of 'santan' is very good idea to begin off away of introducing our first Malaysian local ingredient. Congrats to AirAsia!
