When an 11 year old girl's Instagram gets 'hacked'

Ok, yesterday sure was a pretty dramatic day... it began with a WhatsApp message from my daughter the evening before that had a few pictures of a boy who seemed to be showing not too pleasant hand signs...these pictures were all in my 11 year old daughter's instagram account...

Most of my friends, fans, followers would have known that just about 2 weeks ago, my 11 year old daughter was sitting at a shop by the road with her father having tea and she noticed 4 youths loitering around, but did not bother too much about
it and was playing with her Asus A2 phone when one of the youths came over and snatched it from her and ran off to his accomplice/friend and they then sped off. My daughter had been unharmed fortunately but shocked and saddened by the loss of her phone.

boy's picture has been blacked out for privacy....

So when these pictures came, naturally a lot of us jumped to the conclusion it COULD be the thief or maybe someone who had bought the phone from the thief.

My God Sister took it upon herself to put out a Facebook post so that we hope we could identify the person, and after deliberating, I decided to follow suit, sharing the picture and hoping to identify the boy in the picture who COULD be the thief or someone who bought the phone from the thief in the hope of maybe apprehending the real culprit (the thief). I DID NOT go out and out to accuse anyone. Some of my blogger friends helped share this out on their FB and Twitter and eventually it did reach the boy in the picture.

Anyway, he came forth, and to prove his innocence, he went to the police station in Mutiara Damansara to make a report.

During that time, I was visiting my mom's partner who had been admitted to the Putrajaya Hospital for Heart Murmur/ Heart Valve Problems with my mother.

I got a message from a nice police officer who told me what was going on and advised me to make my own report as well. Curious to know what the boy's explanation on how he accessed and posted those not very nice pictures which got many people pretty upset, I asked the police officer and she told me that, "Perhaps your daughter forgot to log out of her Instagram using a display handset at the Celcom centre."

And dear me, it suddenly made sense... I turned around, glared at my daughter and asked her sternly and after a couple of evasive answers and shrugging, she admitted doing so when I was at the Celcom centre at eCurve trying to settle my mother's network migration issues.

After leaving the hospital, I manage to get to the Gombak police station in the evening, and made my own report depicting the whole story.

The damage has been done, and the boy is younger then my eldest daughter and son, he is only 18 years old, and he is in a bit of a trouble with all these misunderstandings just by being mischievous and posting not very nice pictures, but please let him be, he is innocent from any other things.

I will do my best to clarify things for him.

In this case, my 11 year old daughter was in the wrong for logging in and not logging out at a public mobile phone display set...

The boy was wrong for posting all those weird sign languages which had been mistaken as not very nice/ somewhat lewd and all in an 11 year old girl's Instagram which made lots of people upset....

...and I guess I overdid it with sharing it all out... However, I am relieved and glad I manage to get to the bottom of this....

Now that we have clarified all this... please do not make the boy a villian, he is NOT THE THIEF AND HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE MISSING HANDPHONE. He just happened to be mischievous and this was a terrible mistake and he is already learning the hard way...

However, I would like to both thank all my friends for helping me share it out, and also to apologize to them for the trouble of deleting it again later, it is good that I have identified the boy and clarified things but please take note I did not go all out to accuse him (the boy) directly...

I wanted to find the culprit who took my daughter's phone if I could and this boy just happened to post those not very nice hand signs in someone else's instagram, and it just happened to be the wrong instagram that got him into these trouble...

On my part, I will do whatever I can to help this boy clarify things with his family and such....It has all been a mistake but I guess we all learned a few lessons...such as trying to keep a cool mind in these kind of cases..

....and well, most important thing is not to post anything strange or anything at all in anyone else's social media be in FB, Instagram or such.....it is also a crime which is the invasion of privacy... but I forgive him for that....  so let's all forgive him for that .. he is not a bad kid, just mischievous as kids are...

  15. Oh my. It happened to my Deaf friends before. He busy to chat with his friend in whatsapp when he used his smartphone at the public bus station! Suddenly a thief take it from him, and escaped to avoid the public! He said a young malay guy took it but he cannot find a thief cuz he fear the dangerous will be happen to him. Another case are my mom's student followed a thief who took his smartphone when he took it from his table at the food stall but when he reached at his place, many teenagers beat him already in quiet place! He injured, make my mom and teachers shocked and took him to hospital.

Your family always be careful, and don't show off the smartphone to public if you are sit to eat or stand at anywhere. Nowadays, they want the smartphone...
