Food Review: The NEW Delicious Menu & "Inspired by Tapas"

It was a lovely Saturday afternoon when I headed towards delicious in Bangsar Village II... There were both KL and Penang bloggers there all geared up and ready to check out the new delicious menu as well as their "Inspired by Tapas" specials.

It was a fun afternoon meeting new people as well as seeing familiar faces while indulging over amazing plethora of drinks and scrumptious food.....

delicious in Bangsar Village II was naturally buzzing with tea time crowd. The ambience there was contemporary and also very cosy, as like all the other delicious group...

Anyway, the new delicious menu is featuring 16 new and improved dishes that you can be sure would be great quality food and drinks with a hint to a healthier and more fulfilling lifestyle...

delicious' CEO, Steve Allen has just returned from a recent trip to the UK and Barcelona, Spain to do some research at the food trends there as well and find out what he could bring back to delicious in Malaysia.

The new delicious menu has been stripped bare and Steve has taken the decision to study all new and old favorites and how he and his team could improve them. As a result, simple sauces such as a tomato sauce have now been enhanced by fresh vegetables such as fennel, shallots and leeks as well as fresh herbs including tarragon and parsley....

The new delicious menu has introduced more local dishes , a more varied appetizer section as well as an amazing light salad of "Pumpkin, Coconut and Beef Serunding". Steve says that salads are a big seller on the delicious menu and that this particular salad incorporates all of his favorite ingredients from Malaysia.... beef serunding, fresh papaya, pumpkin, coconut, lime and chilli......

We started our food tasting with a nice glass of Salted Caramel Latte (RM14), and no, before you asked, this was not officially on the list of new food items... it is an old one but I was in need of a little caffeine to kick start the afternoon.....

And before I introduce the new dishes, let's check out some specials there are in delicious....

They have rolled out a Monday and Tuesday specials night of "Buy 1 Free 1" dishes.. In December, Asian Mains get the spotlight followed by Sandwiches, Burgers and Wraps in January.... This is available from 3pm every Monday and Tuesday and you can choose any two of these dishes and receive the lower priced item absolutely free....

Isn't that great news in this times where cost of living is escalating at a shocking and scary rate.... delicious group hopes that everyone can enjoy these value added specials in these difficult times, especially students and young professionals who enjoys these the most....

For refreshments, we got to try out the "Apple Mint Lemonade" (RM10) as well as the "Rose Lychee Frostie" (RM12.50).. and they were definitely very refreshing. The Apple Mint Lemonade was a pleasant surprise being a freshly juiced apple with a hint of lemon and mint..... the Rose Lychee Frostie was very similar to all those Watermelon Lychee coolers I had but with a hint of the Rose syrup...

The "Inspired by Tapas" menu is 10 small dishes created by both Steve Allen and Executive Chef Sandy Alan Rowe (pic above) with the hope of providing diners with more choice and variety, and perfect for sharing...diners can now order up to 5 dishes of these and shared it between 2-3 people without breaking the bank and still have a satisfying meal....It is based in the Spanish way of eating...

This menu will run from 4th January up to 31st March 2016 and the prices will range between RM8  to RM18

Come, let's check out what is in store....

The Tapas Inspired Menu

This is the "Baked Pumpkin with Grilled Prawns" (RM17.50).. it was definitely one of our favorites and everyone was left wishing for more... the baked pumpkin was tender and the juicy grilled prawns succulent and fresh on the palate...

Then there is the "Creamed Garlic Mushrooms" with Croutons and Poached Egg (RM13.00) and wait... stop... don't judge me, I may be bias here but I love this dish a lot too... because I absolutely love mushrooms.... hahahah... but this is really nice..

This here would be the "Baked Chicken Thigh " with Romesco Sauce and Toasted Almonds (RM15.50)  The batter makes the chicken very crunchy for sure... and you really have to appreciate it with the Romesco sauce for the whole taste...

The "Grilled Beef Skewers" (RM18) should not be missed if you eat beef... they are succulent , juicy and just nice.....it comes with tomatoes, red onions and capsicum/ peppers and garlic fried potatoes.... I know I really liked this...

The "Black Cod" (RM18) looks pretty simple and is served with a capsicum sauce and I love the combination really, but the one on my table was a little bit chewy, but that could be because it was for our review and had been set aside a little too long.... My friends said it tasted yummy and tender when ordered straight off the menu and made to order...

The delicious New Menu

This is the "Pumpkin Risotto Balls" (RM13.50) . This pumpkin risotto balls also include mushrooms and rosemary in it and on its own it tastes great with the outside being crunchy and the inside moist and tasty... but if you eat it with the accompanying Pesto Mayonnaise.. it is scrumptious... heavenly....... I loved this.. heheheh

For Asian fusion food lovers, you really have to try this "Roasted Pumpkin, Coconut & Beef Serunding Salad with Papaya"  (RM26.50)  . It is unlike anything you have tasted before... and to think such a tasty dish can be soooo healthy.... it comes with a spicy lime dressing....so if you can even imagine the burst of flavours in your mouth....

As I have confessed I am a mushroom lover... and this one also won me over, naturally... hahaha.... Do try out the "Wild Mushroom Wrap" (RM26.50) which is wrapped with cherry tomatoes, parmesan, cucumber and some pine nuts for some crunchy flavors you will not be forgetting in a hurry... It is served with some potato wedges and small serving salad too...

For Carbonara pasta fans, do not miss this rich and tasty "Carbonara with Seaweed Egg" (RM28) in Parmesan Cream with Mushrooms and a choice of Beef Bacon or Shredded Chicken... If you ask me I prefer it with Beef Bacon....so unless you do not eat beef, then go with the chicken... The Seaweed egg is carefully half boiled and then baked with the same batter as the Baked Chicken Thigh above except it has additional seaweed laver on it...

When you are done with all those irresistible dishes , be sure to save a tiny room in your stomach for dessert.... I recommend this "Macadamia & Salted Caramel Cheesecake Sundae" (RM17.50) which is almost to die for... hehehe... and good to share with 2-3 people...

If you are a cheesecake lover, try out the new "Chocolate & Raisin Cheesecake" (RM15) and you will not regret it.... it is so sinfully yummy and I did soooo love the base as well as the chocolate cheese taste....

So there, head over to the delicious restaurant next to you to try these dishes out...
