Activate your Visa PIN ....

Having a Visa card is heaven sent especially when you are travelling as you do not want to be bringing too much money with you as it can draw unwanted attention, as well as pretty inconvenient….

Did you know that all credit, debit and prepaidcard users now have to migrate from signature to PIN.

As per Bank Negara Malaysia’s mandate, all banks have switched their payment cards from Chip & Sign to Chip & PIN since June 2016 and have embarked on a massive industry-wide campaign to communicate this to their customers.

Most local retailers have already migrated to PIN & PAY since 1st January 2017. I do not know if you realise it… it is just like using your ATM card at the ATM machine…

But well, do be sure to activate your Visa PIN-enabled cards before going on holiday. Just call or visit your nearest local bank, enable your PIN and enjoy smooth payments on your trip!

PIN & PAY is a secure method of payment that uses a PIN or 6-digit secret code, instead of your signature to authorise payment.

How to use your PIN-enabled card… All you have to do is hand it to the cashier as usual who will swipe or insert it in the terminal… wait for the prompt, and once the prompt appears, just key in your personal PIN and press enter….

Personally, I find using these PIN-enabled cards really convenient and easy..

Go and get your PIN set to your Visa card… and remember your PIN so you can have peace of mind using your PIN cards when you travel or in Malaysia.

Just a friendly reminder that if you do not start using a PIN on your cards, you will no longer be able to use your payment cards at domestic points of sale if you do not know your PIN after 1 July 2017, ( unless you are using payWave – applicable only for purchases below RM250 ) so do not get caught out….As for those travelling overseas, this payment system has already been implemented abroad so remember to activate your PIN cards if you haven't already done so.
