Food Review: Ancasa Hotel and Spa's Ramadan Buffet “Selera Desa”

With Ramadan approaching, there are just so many Ramadan Buffets being offered and I am kinda getting fat from all this eating.. but I can't help it......

But hey, if you would like to know where you can have a great value for money and also delicious food, you really have to check out Saffron Brasserie's spread.

This Ramadan, AnCasa Hotel & Spa, Kuala Lumpur will feature a lavish buffet spread of mouth-watering and authentic Malay cuisine served ala ‘Kampung’.

Saffron Brasserie is a very lovely venue for the breaking of fast where the Hotel’s Malay Chef, Makcik Mariam and its Pastry Chef, Syukri will be showcasing their repertoire of fine Malay traditional dishes and cakes using only the freshest ingredients, cooked and made according to time-honored recipes.

Yours truly here was asked to try out the Nasi Kerabu and having just come back from having the best Nasi Kerabu in Kelantan.... I must say this is the second best Nasi Kerabu I have tasted....though I was slightly amused by the Nasi Ambeng style they placed the Nasi Kerabu.

It is not easy to find tasty Nasi Kerabu, but Saffron Brasserie definitely is a cut above the rest. So if you are here for the buffet, you REALLY have to try this out. It is tasty and flavorful... of course, do not forget a healthy dollop of the sambal kelapa and the budu to go along with it...

The ‘Selera Desa’ Ramadan Buffet will be introducing more than 120 dishes including live-action stalls offering traditional favorites like Cucur Udang, Apam Balik, Nasi Kerabu and Satay.

Satay

My elder daughter who attended this food review with me was in love with both the Sup Dorai which is actually mamak soup cooked with lots of spices and the meat of your choice and the DIY Laksa... with thick fishy gravy.... I seconded her opinion after tasting both myself....

So do not forget to try these too... they are yummilicious....

Mix Vegatables
I loved the dishes, they were all very flavorful and tasty, to cut it short, there wasn't any dish here that I did not like at all...

Assam Pedas Ikan Pari

Chef Mariam’s specialties include Rendang Itik & Daging Gulai Kawah served with Nasi Briyani.

Not to be missed is the Ikan Bakar Station, where one will find a wide array of grilled seafood and meats served with various local dips and sauces.

Assam Pedas Ikan Jenahak

Sambal Udang Petai

Ayam Masak Opor

Do save some space for Chef Syukri’s extensive selection of cakes and Malay traditional delicacies which is really to die for.... I could not stop myself going back for seconds even though I was already feeling so stuffed..... The selection of cakes and kueh were just both so pleasing to the sight and also the tastebuds...

I found myself mesmerized watching the sous chefs preparing and making cucur and other fritters at the stations . Seeing it prepared fresh and tasting it soon after, piping hot, somehow enhances the flavors and makes it really yummy.....

It is said that there will be Live Ghazal music performance to add to the nostalgic atmosphere of breaking of fast at the ‘kampung’ with family and friends but in during my meal I was lulled by the pleasant Sabilulungan and other Gamelan tunes that reminded me of my time in Bali... hehehe

The ‘Selera Desa’ Ramadan Buffet will be served daily from 22nd June to 16 July, 2015 from 6.30pm to 10.00pm.

Priced at an affordable RM65.00nett (Adult) & RM45.00nett (Child) and for such a lavish spread, I really have to say that it is great value for your money.

Private Group Bookings of more than 100 persons can also be arranged. Hurry and reserve your places early now to avoid disappointment.

The oh so tempting dessert counter.....
