Choir of Gonville & Caius College of Cambridge

Look forward to the Dewan Filharmonik PETRONAS (DFP)'s line up of interesting concerts this coming August.. 

The Hong Kong Children Symphony Orchestra (HKCSO) will open the season with a special concert on Friday, 4 August 2017 at 8.30 pm

The ensemble will next collaborate with the Malaysian Philharmonic Youth Orchestra (MPYO) on Saturday, 5 August 2017 at 8.30 pm. Naohisa Furusawa will lead both ensembles in an exciting classical music programme in a concert that will also feature 15-year-old violinist Wong Pui Ying.

The Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra (MPO) will present the grandeur of Beethoven’s Mighty Ninth on Saturday, 12 August 2017 at 8.30 pm and Sunday, 13 August 2017 at 3.00 pm. The MPO will be joined onstage by the MAX Philharmonic Orchestra, soprano Ranko Kurano, mezzo-soprano Kaori Ikeda, tenor Jin Hin Yap, bass baritone Chi Hoe Mak, Choir of Gonville & Caius College of Cambridge, Dithyrambic Singers and MAX Philharmonic Chorus, under the leadership of conductor Naohisa Furusawa.

There will be an organ recital on Tuesday, 15 August 2017 at 6.30 pm with Michael How and Luke Fitzgerald presenting some great organ music.

Concerts themed Choral Serenade to Music comes next where the MPO will collaborate with Choir of Gonville & Caius College of Cambridge, to be led by conductor Geoffrey Webber. They will present works by, among others, Vaughan Williams, one of the best English choral composers. The concerts are scheduled on Saturday, 19 August 2017 at 8.30 pm and Sunday, 20 August 2017 at 3.00 pm.

MPYO celebrates its 10th anniversary in a special ‘reunion’ concert with its original Principal Conductor, Kevin Field, on 25 August 2017 at 8.30 pm. The ensemble will showcase its musicianship through an engaging programme of Kodaly, Chow and Saint-Saens.  

The month will close with MPO presenting concerts themed Hypnotic, Vivacious, Grand on Saturday, 26 August 2017 at 8.30 pm and Sunday, 27 August 2017 at 3.00 pm. Jonathan Bloxham will conduct majestic works by Vivaldi, Brahms and Webern.
