Celebrating New Year the Concorde KL Style......

My family and I decided to spend the very last moments of 2015 and the earliest moments of 2016 with a staycation at the well known Concorde Kuala Lumpur, and before you ask, no this is not exactly a hotel review, Concorde did not invite me and we paid for the stay and meals...

Concorde Kuala Lumpur is an old hotel which has been refurbished. It is located in the golden triangle of Kuala Lumpur, smacked right in the middle of the bustling business centre and major tourist attractions of Kuala Lumpur city right in front of Shangri-la Kuala Lumpur. It is within walking distance is the Malaysia Tourism Center (MTC), Suria KLCC Shopping Centre, Petronas Twin Towers, Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre and Kuala Lumpur Tower.

And what makes Concorde Kuala Lumpur even more popular would be the fact that it houses the Hard Rock Cafe Kuala Lumpur!!

New Year's eve being the 7th day of Christmas (since Christmas have 12 days) means the Christmas decorations are still up...and just upon arrival, I could not help but to be fascinated by the antique car or is it a jeep in the lobby  laden with a Christmas tree and filled with gaily wrapped presents in front of two huge Christmas trees....

Even the pillars in the lobby are covered with various assorted huge nutcracker soldiers wallpaper.

And I simply loved the bright festive led lightings that was all over the place in a calculated jumble of mess

We checked in at the premier lounge check in area,,,,

There were newspapers, refreshments, cookies to indulge in when you check in here...

You can choose from hot coffee, hot tea, cold mineral water or even soft drinks from the refrigerator there...

My youngest daughter and my lovely step daughter Alyssa....waiting while we check into the hotel.. as well as my other half and Alyssa's boyfriend..Hilman,...

Let's go though a little history lesson... heheeh....

Kuala Lumpur’s history began in the mid 19th century with a thriving tin-mining industry. Back then in those days there were Chinese headmen who were appointed by the British as Kapitans (or captains) to ensure law and order. One of these Chinese Kapitans was none other than Yap Ah Loy,  who oversaw the rise of Kuala Lumpur from a quiet town to Selangor’s most advanced city.

Thus with its interesting background history, you can still find a charming mix of architecture reflecting both its European colonial and Chinese influences around Kuala Lumpur

Concorde Hotel Kuala Lumpur is one of these hotels that somehow manages to balance its modern façade with a touch of history. Previously known as the Merlin Hotel from 1957 till 1990, the hotel is an icon in central Kuala Lumpur where generations have dined in its ‘Dragon Court’ Chinese Restaurant (now known as XIN Cuisine).

Ok, so we checked in and got adjoining rooms with extra beds for all 6 of us...We initially wanted to get two rooms but since it was New Year's eve, the hotel was running on full occupancy thus it was not possible....

Our room was on the 6th floor...and I like the security here at Concorde as you need your key card to punch in the floor you are at. It is good that not every Tom, Dick and Harry can simply walk into the hotel lift and go up to the guest floors.

And as my custom, before entering a hotel room, I will normally ring the bell or knock on the door before entering, irregardless if there is someone there or not. And upon entering, it is also necessary to be polite and give 'salam' or at least a sign of respect so that if there is 'anything' inside the room, hopefully, it can understand my intention to just spend a peaceful night there and leave me alone...

And yes, so far, so good... I have never been disturbed yet in any hotel rooms I have been to, in Malaysia and also out of the country, and let's hope I can keep it that way....

So these are the beds in the room...like I mention, since the hotel is running on full occupancy it is not easy to get other rooms.....

And let's take a peek around the other things in the room.....

My bathroom is quite spacious...

And my youngest daughter is kinda disappointed not to have found a bath tub there but instead just a shower stall there... but I love the shower... you can choose from the hand shower or the rain shower and the water pressure and temperature is perfect!!!

The toilet is slightly disappointing though since for the love of me I could not find the very necessary bidet.... I have to make do like how I make do in those toilets overseas... bring a mineral water bottle around...

I mean... I really need to 'flush' or wash my privates.... hahahaha.....ok.... too much info......sorry...

Some other details around ...

I have to love the view from my room......... Gorgeous skyscrapers...... which is also a bane since my family and I were kinda hoping to be able to see the New Year eve's fireworks and these skyscrapers put a damper to it.....

The view of the pool from my room....

Anyway when we headed downstairs for dinner.... my husband could not resist taking a picture at the photo booth area....where there was a nutcracker...

...christmas decorations and even a lovely huge ginger breadman on the leather seat there.....

My family and I were having dinner at the Melting Pot cafe... and it was all decked out for New Year's eve....

We were indulging in the Cheers to New Beginnings Buffet Dinner...

Here is our table..all set for the New Year's Eve dinner.....with party hats and party packs filled with poppers, blowers, masks and glow sticks...in those colourful boxes...

Being a blogger and huge photograph addict... I cannot claim to be an amazing photographer as my pictures are just so so...... I cannot resist taking pictures of the display of course...

Om nom noms all beckoning to me... LOL

The dessert table is definitely very prettily decked and soooo colourful...

And ooops... someone already took the '0' away from the 2016....

Loving all these exquisite goodies...

Ok, from the dessert table, I headed to the salad, Japanese and seafood table...

Look at all the seafood on ice......

And assorted meat loaves....

This is the noodles counter....

And well, staring or photographing food is not the only thing to do when you are at the buffet table right,,,,

So these are a few of my noms for the night.....

And being a fan of sweet stuff, how can I resist desserts....

There were strolling musicians as well and they were really good...here is my daughter and step daughter with one of the singers...

These guys hail from the neighbouring country of Indonesia and they are really good.. they go from table to table and serenade you. Love their voices... pretty soulful...

Sorry... could not resist showing off my chocolate drenched strawberries, grapes and marshmallow mixture from the chocolate fountain there...

This is love....

So, cheers to new beginnings and may 2016 bring us amazing opportunities and all things good..........

When we finished with out dinner, and were on our way back to our rooms, especially forboth my youngest daughter and me, we were sidetracked there at the lobby because of the Star Wars characters ... here is an Oriental Princess Leia...

And Darth Vader and a female Storm trooper too...

You can also find nutcrackers soldiers on stilts...

And pretty ballerinas.....

And when the clock strike 12, back in the quiet serenity of my room, we watched a little of the fireworks... as the other skyscrapers were covering the view... we only got glimpses of it, but it was nice and quiet away from the crowd...

The rest of the other family members were in more festive mode and were celebrating at the Crossroads Bar downstairs....

Early New Year's Day....and it was drizzling....but for the Chinese, it probably means good luck...as water brings luck...

My daughter and I were the earliest to bed, right after the fireworks (or not really ) display and the earliest to rise....

I had always loved breakfast at Concorde Hotel Kuala Lumpur, and this definitely does not disappoint...

And there you had it, my obsession with taking food pictures..... hahahaha

My daughter could not resist the photo booth area and so we ended up there for more photo opportunities...

..before heading to the first floor, and passing by the gymnasium....

... to the pool, of course...

A stay in a hotel is not complete without a nice dip in the pool for her....

And then... after that, it was time to pack up and go home, of course....

But well, that was how we spend out New Year's Eve 2015 and welcomed 2016.....
So, pray share with me how did you spend your New Year???

Happy New Year, againnnnnn.... LOL.......
