Pitch Perfect.... at Page to Pitch (P2P) Media 360

When I was a kid, I often dream of getting a book of my so called pathetic life published. I reckon that it could be a best seller... either that... or maybe come up with some bombastic or supernatural make belief stuff... And that was what my school mates remember of me in secondary school... I was the one who would write long essays or stories for them to read....

Yeah, I used to dream of being a writer but then I never went far as I did not have the opportunity to pursue it or any of my studies further .  So is there anyone out there who is reading this who dreams of being a writer, an author??? Maybe you have even already wrote a book you think which can be publish... However before you can convince a publisher to buy your work you'll have to get them to read it in the first place.

Sadly, publishers and agents are quite extremely busy people with stacks of promising manuscripts littering their desks already and you need to get your writing not just onto that stack, but right on top.

To do that you need to pitch.
A pitch can be verbal or written and often a combination of both. Verbal pitches are for face-to-face meetings with an agents or publishers. For beginning writers this will most likely be at a writer's conference. These in-person pitch sessions are a great opportunity for you to sell yourself and your writing. With this you can get the opportunity at impressing either that agent or editor and getting your manuscript read by the people who can get it published. Isn't that great??? Boy do I have news for you!!!

Malaysia’s leading hub for publishers, authors and readers; Perbadanan Kota Buku is now working together  in a collaboration with Kumpulan Media Karangkraf and the National Film Development Corporation Malaysia (FINAS)  to organise the world’s first publishing to media pitching competition titled, Page to Pitch (P2P) Media 360!!

The competition which will be held in conjunction with the 9th edition of Kuala Lumpur Trade & Copyright Centre (KLTCC) in concurrent with the annual Kuala Lumpur International Book Fairs, aims to open up opportunities and provides a platform for budding writers to publish their ideas and develop established writers’ intellectual property (IP) into diverse digital media content.

The competition is divided into two categories, with the theme of 'Adapting Books and Ideas into Digital Media.'

The first category, Idea to Publishing promises aspiring writers an opportunity to publish their ideas into a publication with Karangkraf worth up to RM50,000 in value, apart from RM5,000 grand prize from Kota Buku and an international marketing opportunity once their idea is published.

The second category, Book to Development targets established writers to turn their publication into diverse digital media contents such as feature film, TV series, animation, digital comics, games, apps and more. The winner of this category will receive a green lane for their application in the FINAS development grant worth up to RM500,000 in value, apart from RM5,000 grand prize from Kota Buku and an international marketing opportunity.

Sayed Munawar Sayed Mustar, CEO of Kota Buku reiterated, "We are aware that there are many undiscovered talented writers out there. Therefore, P2P is the golden opportunity for them to shine and get the recognition for their talent. We hope the competition will encourage not just our nation’s creative writers, but ASEAN writers as well to boost their talent and strive to enrich the publishing industry as a whole."

The competition is open to all ASEAN countries for Category 1, whereas Category 2 is exclusively for Malaysian.

If your entry gets shortlisted, you will be invited to pitch your idea in front of a panel of local and international industry experts from 7th to 8th May 2016 during KLTCC 2016.

Submission for both categories is open until 22nd April 2016.

So if you are interested do download the entry form from www.facebook.com/page2pitch and good luck... don't forget me when you are a popular writer ok.. heheh
