Gimme, Gimme ABBA Live in Malaysia

The story began with, "Sayang, I've got tickets to a performance... and I want to bring you along", and well, my nowadays reclusive husband (who has been kinda reclusive since last year) just said, "No!!"....

Sighing wearily, because it was never easy trying to get him to follow me to one of my many events, I said again, " But I really think you will like this... this is a LIVE performance by a very good ABBA tribute band...."

My hubby, who is 15 years my senior, looked up from the newspapers he was reading and repeated, "ABBA?"

"Yes, sayang, and I am sure you will enjoy it. They are reputed to be very good and the princess of Kedah, (YTM Tunku Panglima Besar Kedah Dato' Seri DiRaja Tan Sri Tunku Puteri Intan Safinaz binti Tuanku Abdul Halim  Mu'adzam Shah) is also having them perform at her Royal Charity Gala Outdoor Concert..
..
My husband then looked thoughtful and replied, "Alright then, if it is ABBA...." and that was our conversation about three weeks ago....

So on the 18th evening, my husband got ready and we went for our long and much needed date,... did you know it is healthy for couples, even married couples to go on dates...we left our daughter with her former baby sitter/our neighbour, and headed to the Gardens Theatre where the event was held...

We got to meet up with the dashing Roslan Wilkinson, the organizer of the event who was there as well...

We got our tickets, and entered the theatre. The seating for the concert are was definitely cozy and intimate and we had a great view of the stage despite seating behind....

The Gimme Gimme ABBA LIVE in Malaysia features the Gimme Gimme Girls was on from 17th May to 20th May 2016 at the  Gardens Theatres!!!

"Chiquitita, tell me what's wrong.... You're enchained by your own sorrow , In your eyes there is no hope for tomorrow.. How I hate to see you like this, There is no way you can deny it ... I can see that you're oh so sad, so quiet....."

Then they headed to Alor Setar for the The Royal Charity Gala Concert at Keriang Hill, Mukim Gunung in Alor Setar on the 21st May 2016... and I am sure the royals and VIPs had a blast as well....

"I work all night, I work all day, to pay the bills I have to pay,  Ain't it sad .. And still there never seems to be a single penny left for me , That's too bad… In my dreams I have a plan, If I got me a wealthy man, I wouldn't have to work at all, I'd fool around and have a ball...
Money, money, money  Must be funny In the rich man's world…   Money, money, money  Always sunny In the rich man's world
Aha-ahaaa All the things I could do, If I had a little money… It's a rich man's world"

The gorgeous girls, posing as Agnetha and Anni-Frid are actually Kate and Lucy, are two highly acclaimed and established West End performers and session singers who have had many years of experience performing at the highest levels...and they were really good....

The Gimme Gimme ABBA performers definitely recreated and revived everyone’s memories on the magic of ABBA with dancing and singing along as well...

One of my favourite part would have to be when they sang, "Fernando" and asked the audiences to switched on their smartphone's torch...to emulate a starry night....

"There was something in the air that night, The stars were bright, Fernando... They were shining there for you and me,  For liberty, Fernando... Though I never thought that we could lose ..There's no regret , If I had to do the same again I would, my friend, Fernando..."

From the first song, "Waterloo" to the three encores which ended with, "Thank you for the Music" the show was very engaging and had all the audiences's rapt attention.....

"So I say…. Thank you for the music, the songs I'm singing, Thanks for all the joy they're bringing … Who can live without it, I ask in all honesty … What would life be?  Without a song or a dance what are we?  So I say thank you for the music.. For giving it to me"

The performance was truly amazing with great choreography, strong vocals, gorgeous eye catching outfits, and well, there is no denying the chemistry between the little group and my husband enjoyed every second of it as well....

My deepest thanks to Dato' Nicholas Pinder and Roslan Wilkinson for giving me this awesome opportunity to watch these girls and their band LIVE!!
