RM 55,000 raised from Roasters Chicken Run '16

I was invited to the Roasters Chicken Run '16 as a blogger to cover the event...

It definitely was a Sunday to remember for over 2,000 people who came together at the Desa Waterpark for the 12th ROASTERS Chicken Run (RCR), organized by Kenny Rogers ROASTERS (KRR). My daughter and I woke up early too and headed there from our home as early as 6 .10 am

Many excited participants had arrived at the venue as early as 6:30 in the morning all bushy tailed and geared up for the run, all in the name of charity and good health...I was there early as well but more for the parking... well.... if you know that there will be about 2000 people... errm... guess how many cars there will be... if you know what I mean.....

I took the opportunity to browsed around after registration, and here are some pictures I took... those are hampers for the first few winners from each category...

I took a picture of this little girl, one of the participants in the kids category run with her egg in the cone... and yes, each runner have to run holding the egg in the cone... but some of them kind of 'cheated' , by putting the egg and the cone in a plastic bag, or had the egg taped into the cone securely, and one of the winners was noticed holding the egg in one hand and the cone in another....

At the sponsor's table, one of the staff was busy applying RockTape to those who requested for it...

RockTape is said to be good for aches, sprains, strains, etc... and lessen the risk as well.. so many people were seen applying the RockTape on their lower back and calves...

The staff was kind enough to give me a piece so I can try it too and I am so packing it to Korea as I am gonna walk until I drop.... and I know my muscles will be screaming...

“The ROASTERS Chicken Run has been one of our significant events in our calendar. The success of this event can be seen by the response it continues to receive event in its 12th year. Seeing the supports Malaysians are throwing our way, gives us a sense of satisfaction to see that our objective of promoting healthy living, while giving back to the community has been achieved,” commented Dato’ Francis Lee, Group Executive Director of Berjaya ROASTERS (M) Sdn Bhd

“Through the amount of RM 55,000 raised from the event, we are glad to share that KRR will be reaching to a larger number of the needy ones by providing them nutritious wholesome meals as well as donating funds to various organizations through Food Aid Foundation,” added Dato’ Francis Lee.

Funds from the ROASTERS Chicken Run 2016 will be handed to Food Aid Foundation through 2,000 sets of Kenny’s Chicken Meals to approximately 20 charitable homes for both the young and old. Meanwhile, the remaining funds will be utilized to purchase ingredients and groceries to other homes which are also supported by Food Aid Foundation.

Food Aid Foundation is a non-profit organization that operates as a food bank which provides basic food to charitable homes, rehabilitation centres, feeding centres, poor families and destitutes.

“I’m glad to be here today to show my gratitude and support to this meaningful event. We appreciate the generosity from KRR and fellow Malaysians, who are selflessly here with us today in support of the foundation. With the contributions garnered from the event, we will certainly be able to extend our arms to a greater number of homes and provide them with more nutritious food supplies,” expressed Rick Chee, founder of Food Aid Foundation, at the charity run yesterday.

ROASTERS Chicken Run (RCR) has raised over RM 660,000 for a myriad of charitable organisations and homes such as Little Yellow Flower Foundation, Tabung Kebajikan Pesakit HUKM, Pediatric Unit HUKM (Oncology), Unit TUTUR – Aural Rehabilitation Centre

There was a warm-up session by Celebrity Fitness before the participants proceeded to run according to their respective categories.

The adult category at the starting point... all geared up for the 4.2 km race...

Ready,...... get set......

Gooooooooooo..............

The kids categories were filled with adorable kids... all ready to run as well...

The kids looked so cute, Dato' Francis Lee and team cannot resist taking a group picture with them as well...but then again, don't get fooled by these kids cuteness, some of them are also hard core runners...

A sneak peek at the cute KRR Roasters Chicken Run medal...

There was 100 plus and Oshin Green Tea to quench all parched throats....

The winners of the men's category... they finished the race in less then 10 minutes!!!! Even the organizers were shocked...

The winners of the ladies category....

The winner of the kid's category was a serious little boy who finished his 3.5km run in like 15 minutes!!!! He definitely had a very competitive streak in him...

Note all the lean mean muscles the winners sport... there is no fat on them... no visible ones like mine at least... hahahaha...(note to self: get more busy!!!)

And Cocoa Trees had to come and ruin my plan of diet by offering almost a 'free flow' of chocolates and wafers....

Check out how cute these chocolate sayings are... these chocolates are definitely ideal for picking up your crush or the person you admire or love huh....
