Indulge in "the Joy of Life" for a beautiful, healthy you....

Most Chinese girls grow up knowing that edible birds' nests are among some of the most expensive delicacies on the planet.

It may seem dumb, paying a lot of money just to indulge in bird saliva but the saliva comes from cave-dwelling birds called swiftlets, where the male birds would build the nests onto the vertical walls of the caves. Collecting and removing these nests is quite challenging, dangerous and painstaking, but well, this birds’ nest is believed to have a long list of health benefits. However here are also some of these swiftlets that build their nests under eaves of houses.

For around 1,200 years, the aristocratic and rich Chinese people have prepared and eaten the nests as a soup, believing it to have everything from anti-aging and anti-cancer properties to the ability to improve concentration and raise libido (and you know how men are, especially rich men if you say that something can raise their libido... they willingly pay big bucks for it... hahaha)

When my grandmother was alive, and when I was young, my mom used to buy them for me, telling me how good it was for my health and beauty, and well, of course, I would believe it...
Among some of its benefits would be that it is believed to do wonders for respiratory problems, coughs and colds as it is said to be able to clean our lungs and regulates the respiratory system. It can also help stimulate appetite, aid digestion and provides a unique pre-digested form of protein and nutrients to speed up recovery from chronic illnesses.

And when it comes to women and their vanity, consuming these edible birds’ nest is believed to be good for maintaining youthful skin… the cell division enzyme and hormone of the birds’ nest can promote reproduction and rebirth of human cells.

  1. This certainly sounds... interesting. Hahaha. I'm Chinese-Filipino and I remember my mom making me take all these natural medicines for common ailments when I was younger. It worked wonders - so I'm a believer. This is the first time I've ever heard of using birds' nests though - it certainly isn't the most exotic thing I've tried, so I'm definitely down for this. :) I have a lot of respiratory problems so I'm excited to try their products. How does it taste though? :)
