It features several industry firsts, including the Kirin 950 chipset, 16 nm FinFET plus chip technology, and an ARM Cortex-A72 processor. The Mate 8 also has the next-generation Huawei EMUI 4.0 operating system based on Android Marshmallow.

The Huawei Mate 8 has a 6-inch FHD screen with negative LCD. The screen’s 95 percent color saturation is higher than both the Mate 7 and iPhone 6s Plus, which are 71 percent and 68 percent, respectively.

The sleek look of the Mate 8 is achieved with the ultra-fast diamond glass cutting technology. With this technology, the 2.5D diamond cut glass and metal are joined together seamlessly at 35,000 rpm

Made from aerospace-grade aluminum, the device’s body is created through 52 processes in addition to leveraging the diamond cutting technology and precision procedure of a computer numerical control machine (CNC 4200S series).

The Huawei 8 is a compact and slim phone with an 83 percent screen-to-body ratio
The Huawei Mate 8 is the most compact smartphone yet, with a specialized design and a screen-to-body ratio of 83 percent.

Long standby time and quick charging

 Long standby time
The Huawei Mate 8 allows users to take advantage of its high performance without losing battery quickly. The device is equipped with a 4000 mAh high-density battery, compared to the 2750 mAh battery of the Apple iPhone 6s Plus. In order to prevent the battery from running low too quickly, the Mate 8 combines the remarkable Kirin 950 chip with the new EMUI 4.0 smart-power technology, which allows users to enjoy a long standby time.

Power consumption for the Huawei Mate 8 is simply impressive!!! Check out the list as follows:
*Heavy users: 1.65 days (1.03 days for Apple iPhone 6s Plus)
* Regular users: 2.36 days (1.53 days for Apple iPhone 6s Plus)
* Talk time over a 3G network: 28 hours
* Internet use over a 4G network: 20 hours (12 hours for Apple iPhone 6s Plus)
* HD video play: 17 hours (14 hours for Apple iPhone 6s Plus)
*Audio play: 98 hours (80 hours for Apple iPhone 6s Plus)
*Theoretical standby time: 22 days (16 days for Apple iPhone 6s Plus)

This charging speed of the Huawei Mate 8 is 105 percent faster than the Apple iPhone 6s Plus.
With only 30 minutes of charging, the Mate 8 has 37 percent of its battery, which equates to a whole day of regular usage

The Huawei Mate 8 also places emphasis on phone security with a new generation of fingerprint touch technology. The fingerprint touch technology also has several other functions, which includes keeping your files secure, locking applications, turning off alarms, taking photos and answering calls. With the firewall provided by the Kirin 950s TrustZone and secure OS, the Mate 8 protects all data from thievery, even if your phone is stolen.

Furthermore, the Huawei Mate 8 comes with the Super Hands-Free 3.0 technology, enabling users to have hands-free conversation with the phone from 3 meters away. The technology is also able to identify sound sources from specific directions, allowing users to play back recordings and listen in on all conversations surrounding the Mate 8 accurately, improving business efficiency for business users.

With many users today capturing their memories through a series of photographs, the Huawei Mate 8’s camera also has the industry’s greatest image-stabilization angle at 1.5° OIS, allowing better photos to be taken even with shaking hands or within a moving environment.

For the business elite, the Mate 8 can automatically recognize and save information on scanned business cards to the phone’s contact list.

The Mate 8 allows users to use their knuckles as an alternative input, allowing users to do more with their screen than just using their fingertips. Users can take screenshots, start or stop screen recordings, and even open apps through knuckle gestures, allowing busy users a means to efficiently use their time.

Other features worth mentioning would be:-

The SOC chip architecture includes new 8+1 cores, specifically: 4*Cortex A72 2.3GHz +, 4*Cortex A53 1.8GHz+, and i5 co-processor.

The Huawei Mate 8 is the first smartphone in the industry to adopt the 4 x A72+4 x A53 Big.LITTLE architecture and the first to use the ARM Cortex A72 SOC processor. With the Kirin950, the Mate 8’s boosting power increases by 100 percent compared to the Kirin925.

The world’s first commercial ARM Mali-T880. The Kirin950 processing capability is 1.25 times higher than the Kirin925.

The HuaweiMate 8 has the world’s first 16nm FinFET plus SOC . The latest Mate 8 Kirin950 hardware comes with 16nm chip technology compared to the previous 28nm chip of the Kirin925, increasing the integration level by 100 percent and the energy efficiency ratio (EER) by 70 percent.

The Huawei Mate 8 sports a state-of-the-art thermal design. With its innovative six layer thermal conductivity structure, the Mate 8’s thermal design allows for higher heat dissipation and lower power consumption. The DX19 thermal materials allow conductivity to be nine times higher than stainless steel, resulting in a phone with a cooler temperature. For example, after 30 minutes of gaming, the Mate 8’s temperature was 4.1°C, which is cooler than the iPhone 6s Plus.

What do you think of it? Impressive, isn't it...

The Huawei Mate 8 will be available in all four colours through the two variants, with the Standard variant offering moonlight silver and space grey, and the Premium variant offering champagne gold and mocha brown. Huawei will be having a promotion on the opening sales day for the Huawei Mate 8 on 11 March 2016, where the first 88 buyers of the Mate 8 will also walk away with a Huawei TalkBand B2 worth RM668 at the KLCC flagship store.
