Affordable luxury flowers at your fingertips..

It can be sad  when you do not have a romantic spouse.. I have never received any flowers from my husband and probably will never get any. I do get envious when I see more romantic husbands giving their wives bouquets of flowers and such. My husband prefers to give me practical gifts like watches, gold accessories or buy me what ever practical things I want. For the other non practical things, I have to go get it myself... hahaha

So in conjunction of my 18th birthday (celebrated for the 22nd time – go do the maths if you are so keen to know how old this old lady is….) and also my upcoming 12th anniversary, I decided to buy myself some flowers…

What made me go all out to buy flowers… one, it is out of curiosity – how my flowers are going to come etc… as a blogger, I have this curiosity… and I need it answered… and what better then to experience it myself..

Secondly, these flowers I ordered are really something else… I like roses but it has always been the peonies that fascinated me no end… and when I learnt that there were going to be peonies in this lot, I could not hold back any longer….

So I placed my order on www.bloomthis.co for a Signature- Single Delivery

And... I got my flowers the very next day.....which happens to be on a Thursday.. The flowers are delivered every Thursday!!

This is my lovely bespoke box, which arrived via car....

There are holes on both ends of the boxes so that the flowers which are carefully wrapped with little plastic water vials / capsules at the bottom or drenched cotton in little plastic bags can breathe and be fresh.

Upon opening the box, there is a personalized note there, a card for a discount on your next purchase and also a "know your flowers"card which tell you what flowers you received and how you can arrange them to their best...

Awww... look at all the pretty flowers... in shades of pink and  maroon ... They are such a joy to behold..

Do you know that flowers can relieve stress...A behavioral research study conducted by Nancy Etcoff, Ph.D., of Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School, reveals that people feel more compassionate toward others, have less worry and anxiety, and feel less depressed when fresh cut flowers are present in the home.

The Home Ecology of Flowers Study at Harvard uncovered three main findings:

  • Flowers feed compassion.
Study participants who lived with fresh cut flowers for less than a week felt an increase in feelings of compassion and kindness for others.

  • Flowers chase away anxieties, worries and the blues at home.

Overall, people in the study simply felt less negative after being around flowers at home for just a few days.
Participants most frequently placed flowers in their kitchens, dining rooms and living rooms, wherethey spend a lot of time at home. They reported wanting to see the blooms first thing in the morning.

  • Living with flowers can provide a boost of energy, happiness and enthusiasm at work.

Having flowers at home can have a positive carry-over impact on our mood at work, too. The study found that people were more likely to feel happier and have more enthusiasm and energy at work when flowers were in their home living environments. This is my humble little flower arrangement... Nothing to shout about, but the flowers here which consist of the lovely peony, a couple of pink roses, some carnations, some sweet williams and a spray of errmm.... tiny yellow flowers?? (Sorry, this dummy don't know what to call that baby breath kind of spray)

Let me share a little about this fascinating peony....Peonies date to at least 1,000 B.C. These plants have quite a long life span, some of which are known to survive for as long as 100 years, and are prized for their sturdy foliage, lush blooms and sweet scent.

Peonies are known as the queen of flowers.. it has been featured in Imperial China during the Sui, Tang and Qing dynasties. It is one of the most exquisite flowers, and a symbol for nobility and value. The peony is also used to symbolize peace and it is said to be a 12th Wedding Anniversary flower… so isn’t it just apt that I should get some for myself… hehehe
