IMMERSING OURSELVES INTO THE HEART OF THE IMAGE

Yours truly was fortunate to be one of the participants in a splashing escapade recently at Sunway Lagoon along with other members of the media and bloggers . We were give the unique opportunity of escaping the everyday-life while experiencing some of Nikon’s latest products hands-on.

It was definitely a welcome respite from the hustle and bustle of the office for some, and the retreat provided members of the media, comprising journalists, photographers as well as bloggers like yours truly here, the opportunity to experience the brand’s newest offerings of 2015 - specifically Nikon’s D5500, Nikon 1 J5, Coolpix P900, and Coolpix S33.

Participants in the whole day event were updated on the unique factors of Nikon’s latest generation Digital SLR camera, the world’s smallest, lightest and slimmest DSLR – Nikon D5500. I wish I can have one... this camera is truly amazing....

The camera has a built-in Wi-Fi facility to complement current social media trends, where uploading pictures on social media sites does not have to compromise on picture quality.

“Photography has become part of our daily life. The prevalence of Wi-Fi connectivity, coupled with the evolution of social media, has marked a strong societal trend of sharing images on social networks,” said David Ng, Nikon Malaysia General Manager, Consumer Products.

Members of the media were also introduced to the Nikon 1 J5, the first Nikon 1 camera that features a tilting screen LCD monitor and NFC-support. The 20.8-megapixel Nikon 1 J5 which was launched earlier this year proudly carries the title of the world’s fastest continuous shooting with autofocus (AF) at up to approximately 20 frames per second (fps), and the world’s shortest shooting time lag, allowing for great image capture in fast-paced and high-action moments.

Participants were also given the opportunity to experience Nikon’s new offerings from Coolpix, Nikon’s compact-camera product line.

Adding to this lineup is the Coolpix P900, a camera that challenges the boundaries of high-powered zoom photography for compact cameras. Fusing innovative technology and design, this Nikon camera is engineered for superior telephoto performance with its 83x optical zoom.

The 16.1 megapixel P900 and its Dual Detect Optical VR technology boast the finest super-telephoto performance in the history of the Nikon Coolpix range, allowing photographers the ability to shoot a wide array of subjects including distant wild animals in a safari or craters on the moon’s surface without compromising on image quality.

Designed to cater to even our young kids, the Coolpix S33, on the other hand, is made to last through waterproof, shockproof and dustproof conditions, presenting the perfect opportunity for capturing hours of outdoor fun for families regardless of weather. The camera also offers an effective pixel count of 13.2-megapixel with 3x optical zoom and 6x Dynamic Fine Zoom to ensure top notch image quality.

“The Underwater Face Framing function on the S33 is able to detect people’s face underwater automatically to release the shutter, allowing people to immortalize precious moments underwater. The waterproof, shockproof, cold-resistant and dustproof camera allows thrill-seekers to focus more on their shot rather than the equipment. The camera is made for families with young children, equipping them to be always ready to endure the elements of any kids and family outing with its affordable price range,” said David Ng.

The venue of the retreat was in no way a selection of chance as participants were given the opportunity to put their skills to the test while experiencing firsthand the functions of the Coolpix S33 camera in a mini competition, which saw winners taking home prizes which consisted of shopping vouchers.

“The purpose of the event was to allow members of the media to experience for themselves the notable features of each camera especially the waterproof camera, Coolpix S33.

As Mahatma Gandhi once said, “Knowledge gained through experience is far superior and many times more useful than bookish knowledge”, I believe the aspect of being able to physically touch, see, feel and test each camera provides far greater insight to what Nikon truly has to offer. These unique characteristics of the latest Nikon devices, combined with the immaculate technology invested into producing each camera truly makes these products the best of its kind in the market today,” said David Ng.

All devices featured at the retreat are available at all Nikon authorized dealers. Photography lovers can themselves get a hands-on experience of the camera at the Nikon Centre located at Berjaya Times Square.

I will be sharing more on the Nikon D5500 and also some pictures I have taken in Beijing via the Nikon CoolPix S33 in coming blogs... so till then, bye for now...
