A Shopkins Birthday Party on a shoestring budget.... (photo diary)

My youngest princess will be turning 11 tomorrow (26th July ) and she requested a Shopkins theme birthday party which was easier said then done because Shopkins is just recently in Malaysia and there is nothing much about it except for some of those collectible toys.  I could not buy any other Shopkins stuff....hurmm.....

I had a hard time trying to figure out what I could do and with a minimal budget especially with the aftermath of the Eid / Hari Raya Aidil Fitri celebrations which has taken a huge chunk out of my budget and I would say, most people's....

Anyway , if you do not know about Shopkins, as my relatives/my Princess aunties who received a list of the birthday girl's wishes were found quoting "Don't even know what's Shopkins?" "It's all foreign language to me" " I have no idea what is it. Never heard of it."

I did a blog post on it...here...Meet Shopkins

So I went the easy way and printed and drew the decorations.... It is easy enough and the only thing that cost money here is the paper and the colour ink....and that did cost bit I guess.. hehehe

And here are some of the decorations I manage to print and/or make......

... and don't you think that the cookie jars look just so alive and cute with their Shopkins faces....

Even the Coca Cola bottles seem to come alive...

I did not know what I did this but I made it on one of the recyclable cardboard files I get from the events, along with the alphabets which I got for just RM1.50 each from Kaison and Anne's meagre Shopkins collection....

And nothing is complete without a pinata....this was carefully and diligently made by my lovely step daughter Alyssa for her half sister....

And well, my neighbour Siti was just amazing.. she made these Shopkins theme cupcakes for Anne.....which are just sooo delicious......

About an hour before the rest of the guest arrive, Alyssa who came earlier to the house to set up the pinata as well as decorate the cake she made for Anne gave Anne a little makeover.......with a touch of make up...

And even hair makeover using my Philips KeraShine hair straightener..

Ta daaa..... the birthday girl looks just so lovely and much more grown up after the little make over...

And well, the birthday girl's narcissistic mom decides to try out the "photo booth" my girls were all so keen on putting up....

A picture with my eldest daughter.....

The pinata is finally set up.......

The birthday girl take a picture with her dad.........

I could not resist going through the cookie jars and coke bottles placed on the bottles again because of the "cute-ness"

And how about a family picture.....my husband, my eldest daughter Talia, my step daughter Alyssa, Anne, my stepson Daniel and Alyssa's boyfriend Hilman...

Then one of Anne's friend arrived, this cute girl is Puteri Farah....

My very simple menu consisted of just Chicken Spaghetti, Chicken Nuggets, Cocktail Sausages and Satay Chicken and Beef with the condiments...

This is me and the lady who is like a sister to me, Amy. She is also my husband's ex-wife but no matter what we are close friends. Her family and her have very big hearts and they treat my kids and me as a part of their family too....And this means a lot to me who never had anyone around in the past before....

The party in full swing......

And taaa daaaa.... the cake... Anne somehow convinced Alyssa to put some of her Shopkins collectibles on top of the cake and her sister just went along with it....

This lovely girl is my niece Hazel......

A picture with the cakes.....

And a picture with the baker and pinata maker and make up artist and doting sister.....

Another picture with the other sister Talia...... hehehe

This one includes my other niece Jamie...

A family picture looking nice.....

A family picture looking silly.......

These two pictures above are of all the cousins.... all my mother in law's grandchildren....

Another cousin's /all the grandchildren photo with the grandmother.....plus one... hehehe

Abang Hilman lighting up the candles on the cake for the birthday girl....

The birthday girl looking poised and a little bashful as her family , relatives and selected friends sang her the birthday song....

...make a wish.... and I bet the wish is "I hope  get some of my wishlist in those presents I got".....

....and a huff and a puff and I'll blow the house down..... eh... I mean the candles out.....

.....and she cuts the cake.....

Here is a picture with some school friends she invited... However, her besties could not make it...

Partly it was because of the fact that it was on a Thursday evening... and this is probably a weird time to be having a birthday party but my priority was with the hope that her siblings could be there... and since my eldest daughter just got back from Penang for a couple of days before heading back to Dungun to college and my step children all were deciding to head outstation on Friday for a few days, I had to have in on Thursday...

It was however a bit of a rush especially since in poured cats and dogs a couple of hours before and my niece and one of her aunties were also delayed in the KL traffic jam....but thankfully and fortunately it was a success with all their attendance...

Here is a picture of yours truly with my other sister in law....

Soon, it was time to open the presents...the highlight of the moment my little princess had been waiting for...

She then gave a whoop and tore off the wrappings in record time... After all she was derived of opening the present I got her for 3 whole weeks....

These were what she got from Alyssa as well as abang Hilman who also gave her an additional RM10!!!

...and more of her wish list..... this one from her loving grandmother.....

Then another wish list item from her Mak Su Pat and cousins...

This is from her kakak Talia...... heheh

...and from her Mama........

All the wishes from some of the guests on her "photo booth"...

And the birthday girl, again....

Happy birthday to my youngest princess... you came to my life 11 years ago at 9.11am on the 26th of July.. and have been a constant source of joy, happiness, exasperation, annoyance and blood pressure raiser.... huhuhu.... but I love you dearly...

Wishing you all the love, success, happiness and a good future ahead.....
