Schoolmates Reunion at Johnny Rockets Avenue K

They are always there to support you, to fight with, to play with during recess time, to share thoughts with, steal homework from or bitch about when in school. They are also there to laugh at you, laugh with you, annoy you and also be there for you whenever you needed them, They are your school mates or class mates.

In my case, they have also been friends with me for nearly 25 years now. These girls in the picture with me are my class mates and school mates. We fought with each other, laugh at each other , annoyed each other, talked about the teachers, boys and so on... but the best of it is we have been each others pillars of support in school one way or another.
And so my girlfriends from school and I all decided to have our mini annual Christmas dinner together. It is not easy gathering many of them as not all of us cared enough to make time or effort ,  considering old friends not that important, time did that to some of us.

There are also some who would make time, but they unexpectedly had other events more important to attend and we missed them too.

Anyway we arranged this gathering at Avanue K's Johnny Rockets as it was convenient to many of us in terms of parking and also transportation via LRT .

For those who have not been to a Johnny Rockets, it is a classic all-American diner with a 50s diner concept and the attraction of  dancing waiters and waitresses.

There are bright red vinyl seats, shiny black-and-white tiled floors and retro chrome accents to bring back nostalgic memories of the 50s or 60s

The ambience is lovely and relaxing for an evening out. And we got to enjoy the staff dancing to ‘That Thing You Do’ by The Wonders and even 'Gentleman' by Psy .

The food is just about reasonably ok. If you are expecting high quality food, this is not the place.

While waiting for the other girls to turn up we ordered the bacon cheese fries which was quite ok. I liked the top part of the bacon cheese fries but the fries at the bottom were a little soggy from the runny melted cheese, for me.

I ordered a strawberry milkshake and it was downright creamy and really quite decadently rich. I think the milkshakes here are quite well known and lauded as among the best around town and justly so!!

None of us were very hungry, so when all 5 girls were here , we ordered two burgers and shared it . The portions are quite Americanized in size. They were huge!!! So for small eaters, you would like to share it with your family or friends for sure.

Here is a selfie of me and my girl friends... and then the dancing waiters and waitresses came on and entertained us with their dancing skills.. which were quite entertaining.

Me and my girl friends had a great time catching up and reminiscing old times

One of the burgers....This one was with sauteed mushrooms which I quite like.

And the other burger...I was too full with my bacon cheese fries, strawberry milkshake and quarter burger to eat some more... LOL

But hey, if you want to check it out, do head to the Avenue K which is opposite the Suria KLCC

Address: G - 8 A Ground Floor, Avenue K, Jalan Ampang, Kampung Baru, 50450 Kuala Lumpur, Wilayah Persekutuan Kuala Lumpur

Cheryl had a birthday song and mini performance for her belated birthday performed by the staff of Johnny Rockets too and the little art on the plate using tomato ketchup....

When dinner was over, we all had selfies , of course, at the concourse area of Avenue K...

Thank you ladies for making the time and love you loads... see you all soon!!
