Kuih Semperit



Kuih Semperit (also called Semperit) is a Malaysian traditional cookie, traditionally served during Hari Raya Aidilfitri to guests.
I had never tried making it before this but I finally did it and oh goodness it was yummy.
Of course there was some trials and error. For example I practically hand pressed the first batch using my hand and the cookie mould until I got the idea to stick it inside a new and clean plastic bag and just press the dough out.

However, the cookie taste perfect.
Try it and see...
You will need:-
240gm margarine/butter
100gm icing sugar
120gm corn flour
120gm flour
120gm custard powder
1 whole egg yolk
1 teaspoon vanilla essence
Cherry bits for decoration or sugared beads

How to make :-
Beat/whisk the margarine/ butter together with the icing sugar.
Add the egg yolk
Add in the mixture of flour slowly in 3-4 portions. Whisk/beat until you have a dough.
Using the cookie mould, press it out in a flower shape and put your flower or deco on top of the cookie.
Bake for 20 minutes at 175 degrees celcius.
Use a grease proof trayliner to avoid your cookies sticking.
