Tony Roma's Donates RM20,000 to Rumah Titian Kaseh

Brings Hari Raya cheers to 130 residents with tantalizing food, essential items, IT & kitchen equipment

Tony Roma's Malaysia has today brought cheers and much joy to the residents of Rumah Titian Kaseh (RTK), a home that provides shelter for single and abused mothers and orphans. The American casual dining giant donated RM20,000 to Rumah Titian Kaseh and celebrated Hari Raya Aidilfitri with fun-filled games and tantalizing food.

The cheque handover ceremony was done at RTK's shelter in Titiwangsa, which is home to 130 residents. The event, part of Tony Roma's corporate socia responsibility (CSR) initiatives, was attended by Revenue Valley's Chief Operating Officer (COO) Dickson Low and RTK's founder Hajjah Sharifah binti Adlan and koined by over 100 children from the home.

"CSR is not just an add on for business. It is our fundamental belief that we should be contributing in a really positive way to the communities of which we are a part. For us, it is just as important to give as it is to receive," said Low at the ceremony.

Tony Roma's Malaysia collaboration with RTK began in June, when they made a pledge to contribute part of their sales revenue to support RTK's efforts. Throughout June 30 to August 17, customers at all Tony Roma's Malaysia outlets who purchased their Beef 10 dish contributed RM5 to the cause. Customers and suppliers also supported the cause by contributing to the donation boxes placed in all outlets.

Funds collected will be used to provide food, clothing, education and basic care for the residents of the home. Besides the RM20,000 donation, the team at Tony Roma's Malaysia also assisted with the repair of cookers at the home, and donated everyday essentials worth up to RM6,000. They include food items, a commercial chiller and blender, rice cooker, serving trays and two desktop computers for schoolwork and research.

"Nowadays, many of us are constrained to our own domestic or personal affairs. But while we juggle the demands of work and life, let us not forget that there are those who have to fight for everyday needs and have few resources to cope with their conditions," said Low.

Through our humble contribution here today, we hope to do our part in nurturing a better and more caring society," he said

Puan Hakkah Sharifah shared that the home is delighted to be chosen as a beneficiary.

"It is always wonderful when established and successful organisations come forward to lend a helping hand. Especially in the spirit of Hari Raya Aidilfitri, the contribution from Tony Roma's Malaysia is timely and we are grateful for their kindness and consideration," said Puan Hajjah Sharifah.

The contribution to Rumah Titian Kaseh is part of Tony Roma's Malaysia's corporate social responsibility (CSR) activities toward fostering a more caring society. In the past, the casual dining chain has contributed to the National Autism Society of Malaysia (NASOM) and SRK (C) Pin Hwa 1 Setia Alam.
