This mom creates masterpieces that look too good to eat...
Lee Samantha is a Malaysian mother who creates whimsical, colourful, imaginative and healthy meals for her two young daughters and over half a million Instagram followers.
How did her passion for food art all come about? "I started my very first Bento making in December 2008, when I was heavily pregnant with my second daughter," she states onher blog. "It was to let my elder daughter to eat independently after the arrival of her younger sister. I was very lucky and blessed that my creations never failed to impress my elder daughter and it made her looked forward to the next meal. Now, she has her little sister fighting over which character they should get during mealtime. It makes meal time extremely fun."
Yours truly was fortunate to meet her at one of the events I attended. And I am really inspired by her but sadly I can only make very simple food art and nowhere as awesome as hers. She has no professional culinary training and is humble about her beginnings. "I've never been to any cooking class or training before. I'm a very ordinary stay (at) home mom."
Her creative and unique ways of approaching mealtimes has garnered her loads international attention from the likes of Buzzfeed, Daily Mail UK, Huffington Post, ABC news, InStyle, MSN, Today.com, Yahoo!, E!Online, TMZ, The Rachael Ray Show, and People magazine. And I think she is so deserving as her dishes are truly such a glorious work or art.
Samantha's approach is fuss free and imaginative, using simple tools to create her food artworks. She doesn't believe in wasting food and is a strong believer of using fresh and healthy ingredients. She will sketch and think of how to use her ingredients. And guess what?? She only takes about an hour to cook AND prepare her amazing art dishes!!!
